I've sometimes hosted GAWs to mark posting milestones and/or membership anniversaries. I noticed that I'm nearing 6 thousand posts as member 5K Qs, and I'll celebrate 4 years of membership this Friday. So here's a GAW involving sets of 3 knives each from Victorinox and from Rough Rider. There will be 2 winners, and each participant is allowed exactly 1 entry. Easy!! ;)

To enter, post exactly one reply (although you may edit your post as often as you wish) here containing ALL of these items:
1. Whether you're playing for the 3 Victorinox knives or the 3 Rough Riders
2. A guess for how many traditional folders you think I own today (it's a 3-digit number)
3. A tie-breaking guess for how many Victorinox knives I own today (it's a 2-digit number)
4. A picture (or description) of a traditional knife that you carry in your vehicle (or would recommend that I carry in my car)
(If two entries are tied on both 2. and 3. above, earlier post wins.)

There will be two winners: the person whose guess is closest to my number of knives among all the Vic entrants, and the person whose guess is closest to my number of knives among all the RR entrants. The GAW will close at 5pm EDT on Friday July 20, 2018 and I'll announce the winners sometime Friday evening.

The prizes are these two trios of knives; you have to declare which set of three you're playing for.
Victorinox: Spartan with hardwood covers, Pocket Pal, and silver Alox Cadet (all still in clamshell packaging, despite the pics below )

Rough Riders: Amber jigged bone 3 1/4" whittler with spear main, red jigged bone 3 1/8" baby copperhead (shoe not included), 3 5/8" stag canoe (the bottom one of the 3 stag canoes shown) (See post #24 for info about why I chose these 3 RRs for the GAW.)

Wow GT, has it been 4 years?! Well every post you've made has been a pleasure my friend, I doubt there's anyone here who takes as much trouble as you do to comment on the knives in the EDC thread, nor as generous in their praise :) Congratulations on the milestones, and thanks for a most generous giveaway

Not an entry from me please, I probably have even more knives than you do! :D I just wanted to say thanks for everything you have brought to The Porch, I am proud to count you as a friend, and to wish everyone who enters Good Luck

Ok this is cool, like to give it a go if I may. I would go for the Rough Riders, all 3 are super nice but that stag canoe is really super nice!
Traditional folders:203
Victorinox:27
Truck knife: I have 3 not including the tramotina machete in the tool box. But the most traditional would be a fixed blade Schrade USA guthook hunter with the green rubber handle I found last week.( I've forgotten bout it! Meant to take pics and put them up!) Oh and Thank you for the great GAW! Good luck to all !

This one looks handy in case you need something and are away from home.

GT it’s hard to believe it has been four years. You are my senior here by five days. I joined on 7/25/14. I always look forward to your gracious posts and comments every day. You have always fascinated me with your precise mathematical approach to your daily carry schedules. Mine is usually quite the opposite because I usually pull open a drawer a pick a couple for my pockets. The exception of course being on the theme carry days such as Wooden Wednesday, which has a little more organization and planning on my part. I am glad you are here and I am proud to count you as a friend! :) Your generosity and ingenuity are always appreciated my friend! :D Respectfully, this is not an entry. I don’t even know how many Traditional knives that I own let alone how many someone else owns. I thought that when I retired I might take some time and actually count them, but so far I haven’t devoted the time or effort! Congratulations again on your four year anniversary here GT!

This sounds like fun.
Congratulations on your 4 years and numerous posts.
You (and several others) are a big part of making The Porch such a friendly place.

GT, congratulations on your soon to be anniversary. 2014 was a good year for Blade Forums. I have always appreciated your commentaries and camaraderie. Throughout the last 4 years the porch has been enriched by your wit and fellowship. This is NOT AN ENTRY but I thank you for your generosity. Those SAKS are great and whoever wins the Canoe will certainly be thrilled. I just wanted to express my gratitude for your friendship and state that I look forward to your contributions to our little community for many years to come. God bless, -James

This is what I keep in my truck just in case. It was given to me by my uncle after I saw it and inquired what knife it was he had in his truck:D

Congratulations on your anniversary and kudos for the great GAW!

Good luck to the participants..some very cool knives up.

1. Whether you're playing for the 3 Victorinox knives or the 3 Rough Riders: The 3 Victorinox knives

2. A guess for how many traditional folders you think I own today (it's a 3-digit number): 123

3. A tie-breaking guess for how many Victorinox knives I own today (it's a 2-digit number): 33

4. A picture (or description) of a traditional knife that you carry in your vehicle (or would recommend that I carry in my car): I carry the smaller Texas Toothpick in my vehicle. I think you should carry the larger Texas Toothpick because you never know when you might have a improv picnic and need a good slicer.

Thank you so much for this great opportunity!

Fun GAW! Thanks for the chance!

1. 3 Victorinox
2. Traditional Knives - 193
3. Victorinox Knives - 44
4. I keep a Victorinox Classic in my glove box

Here's a bump to page 1 for this evening.

I don't know if this will affect anyone's "strategy", but so far there are 6 participants in for the Vics and 3 going for the Rough Riders. ;)

Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes; I especially appreciated the thoughtful notes from Jack, Ron, and James. :)

Great giveaway, GT!

I don't think I could say it any better than Jack did. Your thoughtful, detailed, engaging (and alliterative) comments and posts, particularly in the "What are ya totin' today?" thread, are one of my favorite parts of the Porch.

I have to be honest, it's hard for me to believe that either of you have only been on here for 4 years! You're both long-time Porch fixtures in my mind! :D I'm about a year behind y'all, going on 3 years. (My join date is misleading; apparently I joined in 2008, I assume for something most likely related to Benchmade knives, which was all I used back then, but my first post wasn't until 2015, at which point I was getting into traditional folders and started participating on this subforum)

Since this is a 5K Qs 5K Qs GAW, I don't think I could go without mentioning something that I just noticed about Ron's join date (7/25/2014). When added up individually, the numbers for the month (7), day (2+5) and year (2+0+1+4) add up to 777.

Not an entry for me, although you know I love playing guess-the-number GAWs (I'm still a bit sore about @Will Power's license plate GAW ;)). I will, however, comment on Part 4 -- what traditional knife do I carry in my vehicle. Currently I have a full size Case sodbuster with dark blue synthetic handles and a stainless as-ground blade. It was a gift from a friend, and is a bit large (in my opinion) for pocket carry, so I thought it would make a good knife to keep in the console of my truck. I thought I had taken a photo of it in the console somewhere, but I can't find it anywhere, so I'll just post this photo that was taken in my vehicle of a similar (but more pocket-friendly) knife.

I would also recommend one of these for your vehicle, if you have somewhere to put it. (The back seats in my truck fold up flat, and the material on the underside of them is perfect for attaching velcro patches, so I figured I had to have one.) :D

Good luck to all the entrants!

1) Tough choice! They're all 6 very nice. I will go with the Rough Riders.

2) 876

3) 54

4) I keep a Steel Will Roamer R300 (very nice knife for the price, but not traditional) and a $4 Aldi WorkZone lockback hunter. It has lots of blade play when closed, but almost none when open and seems to lock securely. I'm sure the steel is terrible but it doesn't really matter. Doesn't look atrocious either.

I took a picture to upload but imgur won't let me post it for a while so I'll have to edit this.
