I sold a tool on ebay, and i told people who bit that ill except money orders, some gave me a hard time about that. But i only excepted bidders who would comply. also i gave them my home address to mail the money order, is that cool? should i have used a p.o box?

You can set whatever conditions you like, (subject to whatever ebay permits).

If people don't like the conditions they don't have to bid. Ignore the idiots who complain.

I personally would not post my home address on ebay but maybe I'm excessively paranoid. Unless you seriously annoy somebody who lives close by it probably won't be a problem but if you plan to sell more stuff I'd get a post box.

My wife sells on ebay. She gives out our home address and phone number for MOs and also for pickups (surfboards). We've never had a problem.

Set what conditions you want, it is your auction. I had someone send me personal check even though I clearly stated I would not take them, not only did he send me a check it was a un-numbered starter check from a new account. I simply mailed it back to him and he sent me the requested money order.

I've not had any problems either with my home address.

Moving this to TGB&U. :)

Would you send money to some dork on the net who claims to have something for sale but refuses to tell you his address and phone number?

I wouldn't.

As long as you set the auction rules in the listing,so people knew you only accept money orders, I can't see the payment you requested as an issue.I have listed auctions only accepting Money orders as payment myself.

Just be aware that setting a lot of rules is directly related to the final bid. What I mean is when I'm looking at items, if the seller only accepts money orders and has a bunch of other rules in place I will not bid what I know the item to be worth. I figure it's only worth the risk if I get it for a good price.

My 2 cents....JC III
