I have noticed that saying a discouraging word about ePrey brings the ePrey fan club a' runnin'

Well get those track shoes on.

Forget ePrey's systematic lying about when an item has been shipped. Once you figure out that ePrey lies about when an item ships as a practice, there is no reasonable basis for expectations when you get that cheery little: "'Your order is on its way, Thomas ! . . your order has shipped to...."
After all, it will be shipped - several days later. Not the seller's fault; it's all ePrey's doing. To what end? Who cares?

Last few months, I occasionally cannot bid because I do not meet the seller's "standards." India (five different reps and a "supervisor" could not explain what that means, and ePrey blocks asking the seller for a meaning (no CONTACT). The "supervisor" told me in August ePrey would get back to me with a "solution."

Still waiting. It still happens. Do you think whey will GBTM?

Today I looked at my Feedback summary, as anyone contemplating selling to me might.
It shows my extensive seller feedback includes no stars - none - for "Item as described,""Communications," or "Shipping and handling charges --."

I have never sold anything whatsoever on ePrey

The ePrey rep in India
could not explain Then he wondered out-loud why my buyer feedback page is identical to my seller feedback page and my "all feedback" page, He thought there might be a "glitch."

Do you think?

He will bring it up at the next team meting and get back to me.

Do you think?

I was just told by an ePrey rep that ePrey has determined that it can stop automated lies about when items are shipped, but "You don't understand; eBay does not change." So they did "get back to me" after-all, in a way, kinda-sorta.

This rep also told me it was sellers who, somehow, gave me negative feedback as a seller although I never have sold there. ePrey will look into how those members abused the ePrey system. He could not explain how their evil deeds resulted in identical feedback to mine as a buyer and overall or how/why my buyer feedback contains feedback on shipping or descriptions of item sold.

INSPIRATION!

Over the years you have complained a lot about eBay. I mean a lot. For most of us here, including you, we know ebay is very far from perfect, or even adequate. So knowing that, why use it? I know, it is the only place you can get some of the stuff you want. That being the case, and the fact you still use it, I'm not sure why you waste your time complaining about it here. It's not like you are uncovering some scam we are all unaware of. You are preaching to the choir. Vent away I guess, but I'm not sure this is the proper place, unless some solid solutions for your complaints can be concluded. Given ebay's idiocy that seems more than unlikely.

My eprey purchases almost always ship fast and can be tracked via USPS. The only time they haven't is when I've known the seller was out of the net for a short period.

You realize that when a seller puts the tracking info into the sales ad, it just informs the buyer with an automated message letting them know what the tracking number is? That’s the point of it, it’s just an update. It even states that detailed tracking info will be available when the item actually ships out and usually takes 24 hours or so to be available. Maybe you missed the disclaimer??

Maybe you could ask the seller to not upload the tracking info until the package is already shipped out?

It is the seller to blame for slow shipping not ebay unless you are referencing the Global Shipping Program where ebay themselve are reshipping your purchase.

Many times the seller generates the shipping label immediately after the sale is completed but does not actually mail it for days later.....not an eBay problem but a seller problem.

Whats the point to this? Ebay literally only sends you the shipping update when the seller enters the shipping info into ebay. Have you ever actually used Ebay?

Your post is spot on this matter. I have been an active seller on eBay since 2002 selling automotive related products and while as a seller, I have become more and more discouraged by many of eBay's practices, specially those ever "evolving" rules and practices which constantly and consistently diminish their own smaller sellers, one bright spot in eBay's practices has been their streamlining in communicating to the buyer that the seller has updated shipping information.

Many sellers like me, no longer go wait in the USPS retail store line in order to purchase shipping labels. Sellers based on their performance ratings may be entitled to bulk shipping discount rates which eBay (vis a vis Pitney Bowes) has negotiated with the USPS. Many sellers therefore print their labels from their computers and then drop off their packages at their nearest USPS or arrange for their pick up. I happen to drop off and still have a USPS employee scan my package with their handheld device which shows acceptance because sometimes package (specially if Media Mail) do not get scanned at the source's sorting plant till a few days later when they get to the recipient's sorting plant! Then you may end up with an example that a buyer like the OP starts a "where's my item" claim.

To summarize: while eBay has some pretty awful practices mostly at the expense of their own sellers, the example which the OP has cited is not eBay's fault in its entirety!

I juxt looked at 37 such "shipped" "On its way" emails from ePrey. Not one said you claim - not one.
As an example. one from yesterday is titled "ORDER SHIPPED: OFFICIAL BOY SCOUTS ...'

all the text is as follows:

Your order is on its way, Thomas !
Thank you for shopping on eBay! Your order has shipped to 19105 Snyder Rd, Chagrin Falls, US, OH, 44023-1926. The tracking number is 9400109699938364982731. We hope you enjoy your purchase!

Um...that just means the shipping label has been created, the tracking says so. Ebay is letting you know the seller has entered the shipping information either manually or through paypal/usps. The seller hasn't got the item to USPS yet or USPS hasn't gotten it properly into its system. Would you feel better if the email from ebay just said "A shipping label has been created for your order"? Seems like a trivial thing to get upset about. Do like the rest of us and enter your info on the USPS page to get notifications when something does happen with your item.

I'm not seeing a real ebay problem here.

Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item
DENVER, CO 80206
A shipping label has been prepared for your item at 7:45 pm on April 5, 2018 in DENVER, CO 80206. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date.

**************************************

BTW, the label is for a USPS First-Class Mail Service. Either the seller has not dropped it off first or the source sorting plant did not scan it and then it's onto the next sourcing plant. The OP is prematurely creating a crisis by calling eBay too soon![/QUOTE]

The seller has only been active since Feb 2018 under the name which you have purchased from and with only 8 feedback not enough feedback credit has been established to determine as to whether the seller ships on time or what not. That was your caveat emptor, again nothing to do with eBay as the facilitator of connecting buyers / sellers.

I can write a lengthy essay about how stupid and discouraging some of / most of eBay's practices have been, but your complaint is for now is tempest in a teapot!

I buy at 1 A.M., and get a notice - sent automatically by ePrey -before 2:00 A.M. that the package has been mailed. Really? Mailed between 1 and 2 A.M.? Byers should know it's not on the seller.

It just means that some poor sod was up in those wee hours, probably trying to list more items, saw your order and then printed a label. Therefore, yes really!

I'm not very fond of this new language which eBay uses regarding shipping label notifications instead of the old ones just indicating that a label was created but then again, you're being excessively melodramatic at this point.
