OK, I live in the West now but for me one of the best shows of the year is always the ECCKS Show, now located in NJ. I guess the lack of forged blades at this show is why it gets little attention here. If you can make it to this show you will see some of the most amazing knives being made today, makers from all over the world.

I'm glad Kevin posted some knives, wish I were there to see them in person.

Win- I couldn't agree you with more about the ECCKS as a great venue for custom knives. It is truly an international show with makers from Europe, South Africa and other parts of the globe not to mention some of the best makers in the USA. Since moving from times square I think the show has only improved. The hotel is great and the "city" i.e. NY is five minutes away. Besides the Blade Show I don't think you will see a more diverse custom knife show. Hope to you all there.:thumbup:

I'm 45 minutes away by car and of course, I am working all weekend. I'm coming off an 18 vacation to boot.

I was goibng to go but the only day I have is friday and there is no way in hell I am doing the 5 hour drive (1 and 1/2 if no traffic) to get back home on a friday afternoon.

Provided that nothing else pops up I will be attending. I really enjoyed NYCKS last year.

I'm going to try and sneak in on Sat to meet professor Gill and see the rest of the boys

Steve does a great job :)

I will be going, this is my first knife show. I will be attending Friday, hoping to get a nice folder.

I have a question are pics allowed to be taken? I always like taking pics to post but want to ask respectfully before I do, thanks in advance.

I've sent out an email blast to as many clients as I thought I'd encounter. We will be there as show photographers for all three days.

Yes, Steve and Kylee do a fantastic job running the show. Very well liked.

In between breaths I hope to meet many of you also. :)

I'll be there as well, always enjoy this show. It has some of the best makers in the world, and Steve does a great job.
Ivan M- yes you can take all the pictures you want. I'm not sure where my table is but look me up on the show map and say hello.
Coop- always a pleasure to see you. Looking forward, I catch my flight in about 2hrs. Hope everyone has a safe trip.

I am hoping to attend this weekend considering I live almost 12 miles away!

I was wondering about the photo ops as well but seeing how that has been asked and answered, my only other question is form of payment.

Do most vendors/dealers accept plastic or is cash king? Looking forward to meeting some good people if I make it there.

Never been to this show, but I've been to a ton of others and I can't recall seeing an individual maker take credit cards as I think it is just too expensive for them to set up to do that. I know that some of the large manufacturers will take plastic at some shows. Checks have always been OK in my experience, and of course everyone likes greenbacks!

I thought the same thing. I've been to many small shows and cash ruled but thought this being on a grander scale there might be more plastic acceptance.I was shocked to find that almost every vendor at a local "craft" show was set up for credit cards with these little gizmo's attached to their smart phones.I'm going to get me one of them cellular phones one day.
Just as well. With plastic, I get in trouble. After all, how much trouble can I get into with 20 bucks in my pocket? Cannot wait to view all the goodness at ECCKS!

I take cards. Knife people are GOOD people.

We take the handwritten numbers and process them later in the week, at my studio. We don't set up a terminal. Of course, no payment = no delivery. We run a different outfit.

Possibly makers do the same. If the difference in making a sale or not depends on a 4% hit, that's too negligible to overlook.

...and it's in the best interest of the buyer. That said, BOY, do I like ca$h.

At one point, I really thought I would be going this year. There was the possibility I might be taking delivery from two makers, one of which is Robert Kaufmann, an uber-talented master from Germany. Some of you guys may not know him. Great guy, with whom I spent significant time at Blade. He will again be at Eccks this year.

All sole authorship work, all incredible stuff.

Here is an example of his very-high-end work. I'd thought I had lost these images from Robert, but luckily just found them.
