Economy Knives

Why? What? Why I thought this in the first place ? Or that I thought this was less of a counterfitting ring as more and more guys sold knives to them? Dont understand your post.

Why?

Not trying to be a pessimist, but maybe they want a prototype for each design. I'm sincerely hoping that's not the case.

A lot of things on Busse knives I would think would be hard to fake, but I've been hearing from a few folks that the fakes are getting better and better. In some cases almost indiscernible. That's scary.

Spyderco has had a problem with fakes for years and not necessarily their higher priced knives. When a Chinese factory can produce a small folding knife for .25cents and sell for $14.95 half the price of a genuine Spyderco the real loser is the consumer thinking he got the deal of the century. They have gotten better with the fakes even when you know what to look for...Bad Bizzzzness

You think it's bad now? Just wait...

Available on Kickstarter...
What's that Jerry? ...No more (fill in the blank)s?

I've noted of late some voracious purchasers on the exchange who's first language is not English. This has me wondering if there is some kind of 'buy up scheme' for exporting to copy... Just playing Devils advocate here and not making any insinuations.

Lawrie

So his factory can then do an accurate job cloning it? Just a guess...

For the last year or so I've thought the same. Then when I saw more and more guys sell to these (1)(2) people those same thoughts Deminished.

I'm just going to come right out and say it...

BF user "LIN" has admitted here on BF (in a GBU thread) to buying up knives on the exchange (Busse among others) and having them shipped to a 3rd party here in the USA (somewhere near New England iirc) who then helps him ship them over to China. I do not know what happens to them after that, but do a little research on him and draw your own conclusions. This has been a public service announcement. :grumpy:

Oof. I had a feeling something was fishy.

Well, keep in mind that if y'all sell to him, you may be helping flood the market with far inferior copies.

Sell.......Never..I Buy Buy Buy...I have Gifted a few over the years probably will again, but never sell. It's a sickness...:D

Yeah me too.
I have sold a few to Lin and another member ending with sun. Both on the buy up big time. It's a pity but I guess this sort of thing had to happen sooner or later... I'm just glad I'm part of the genuine community.

So if trentu does not show up back in his own thread, what does that mean?

Yeah them Wazer water jets are awesome. Lil cost prohibitive. Take a lot longer too. But Cadillac for a small maker.

Well not defending or incriminating anyone, but I have mentioned before. There is a huge market overseas for real high end items. LOTS of business people would love to have a REAL BUSSE hanging on their wall or using it during a company outing to cut BBQ to show status. The quality just isn't there unless you get a custom job done at a good forge. They will go as far as order a custom job for a thousand or so and then break with something else to prove the other brand superiority. Not saying these are not being copied, they may be ending up in a collectors safe too. Trust me guys on this one. You go to some of these people houses/small mansions. They got stuff like this in glass tables and in inset glass pictures on the wall. They love it. They may very well be supplying high end buyers. They go for triple over there without an issue or hesitation. I could sell my collection in minutes and make a small mint. Older blades in mint condition, you can just about name your price. They like it be brand new for the most part with the documentation, but there is even a market for anything with a story. You got a good story that goes with the blade, that will bring more. You have a blade with a picture of it with Jerry at a Blade show or something, you get more out of it. It is hot over there. Money is no object for this stuff. They spend thousands on a blade we spend hundreds on because they got too much money and no place to spend it. Everything around them is super cheap and they are raking it in. My friends bought two Audi sedans, could not decide the color so they bought a black one and a white one, paid cash. There is a whole new generation in China of rich people or new money. In the past they did not exist, now they are enjoying themselves.

The knives head to Mass. from california before shipping to china? I don't like it ,that's sounds silly, but then again I'm a Hater. Was that a run-on sentence?

..... yes I seem to think that the particular phenomenon seen there in the ex at the moment more abut the x? premium that a Busse (or other desirable, less than common brand) will bring in some parts of he world as opposed to patterns for copying.

Mob rule, Cobalt. You know how we roll... ;)

"If jerry would release what he makes on each knife then it would be good?!? "

Yeah, sounds like he's seen knives featured in Op2w and is confused why they aren't available to buy (yet). Probably wants to make clones. Just an assumption.
