Hey guys. I love the beer and blades thread and a while back i posted a thread about how all of my friends who carry knives are metal heads. It seemed pretty varried but id like to see if ones favorite band is reflected in their edc. IE aggressive music with an aggressive blade, classical with a traditional, etc. My favorite band is Chimaira and my EDC is the cold steel spartan.

Good thread. :) normally I carry a kershaw JYD 2.2, but I'm having trouble adjusting it properly so it's a griptillan today.

paint it black, the Rolling Stones

I began to learn my appreciation for music through metal (mainly thrash and melodic death metal). Then I have pretty much bounced around to all sorts of genres over the last 5 years. lately I have been carrying my ZT0300 and listening to traditional honky tonk by Webb Pierce and Lefty Frizzell. Nice taste in Chimaira, I used to see them back in the day at the palladium in Worcester. parting the red seas was intense.

My EDC's a Mini Grip and usually some kind of SAK and I'd probably have to say my favorite band is AC/DC. I also like metal (though never got into death metal), some pop, classical, rock; classic and current, but don't like the original Layla or Freebird, old southern rock ('cept, like I said, Freebird), bluesy rock, love SRV, Satch, Eric Johnson, some Gary Hoey. Love music with great guitar, great vocals, great harmonica.

Here's some of the stuff I have on hand.

Of course, my EDC CD (haha) is the Led Zeppelin Mothership album. It's not in the picture because it resides permanently in my truck :D

I love heavy metal/hard rock like Iron Maiden, Ronnie James Dio, Iced Earth, Megadeth, etc. which goes perfectly with my Grayman Satu, Three Sisters Forge "Beast", Benchmade "Adamas", and Strider "SnG". These blades are in my EDC rotation just as the above mentioned music :D

The late Ronnie James Dio:

You seem like the kinda person I would hand out with (judging by the music you listen to) I listen to all the albums haha.

Thanks and I gotta say you can't go wrong with the Stones! Also, I dig your Death the Kid avatar :)

The Vietnam film footage (Rolling Stones) was interesting. I suppose the Kabar would be fitting. I was earlier.

What a great thread! I'm kinda in Riverwarrior's, um, boat: Maiden, yes, and up the irons! Dio, Savatage, glam-shredders like Dokken, even some metal-pop like Evanescence and Seether. I also listen to a lot of orchestral movie soundtracks (cue "Imperial March" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark"), but my all-time favorite is Basil Poledouris's "Conan the Barbarian." It rocks me out of my boots harder than Maiden does.

EDC rotation: AK-47, BM 950, BM 745, Para1, Native5. I guess they do kinda represent the metal-to-orchestra music spectrum. Huh.

P.S. I'm assuming we're not talking about fixed blades (if we are, then ... that's even more fun!). But I live in the damn SF Bay Area, where "EDC" means, at most, a folder. If you guys live in areas where EDC can mean "fixed blade," then I take my hat off to you ... and I'm kinda jealous. :o

Spyderco Millie, Leatherman Juice, and a CRKT Stockman. Working knives for the working man.

I think this song works:
