EDC Bag

Molle + tactical colors = pretty high on the mall ninja scale...

If you go around in a non-hunting and particularly liberal bedwetting area, I could see where that would be the case. I happen to live in a very liberal, extreme bedwetter area and I can see where camouflage in particular, can cause some concern among the more genteel, womanly cowards that I have to count as my neighbors.

I don't have camo bags. These idiots think Molly is a chick in a Tin Lizzy song. Black, OD (everybody's going GREEN! What do you mean this looks threatening? You're stupid, be not near me...) and khaki, I don't think, draw any attention.

Of course, I always have the urge to stab the guys carrying the Mao bags.......

Yuppieflage takes on many different levels, I prefer band name iron-ons and crap like that myself. Of course, most of them promote communism, but they don't live it.

I've used a tan small field bag by filson for a little over a year now. It's a great size, and really ages well.

Nice looking bag. I like the leather possibles bags and use one during summer hikes that's old, but still going strong.

I'd like to get a leather pack too!

Any ideas about sources for an old school Euro style rucksack but not too massive??

Longbow,

Thats a real nice one! I searched around for the right possibles bag for a while and stumbled onto the bag in this thread. I also like the belt pouch type leather bags, I picked up one in Germany a long time that I haven't really taken to wearing... I think Myakka posted a Ray Mears pouch a while back that looks good too (but like everything nice, its pricey..):

Duluth Pack and Frost River have some nice packs to consider too. I have a Duluth Pack that has seen duty everywhere from local trails to hunting trips to Disney World. Both companies offer packs with classic looks that last forever and blend into any scenario. They don't offer a lot of high tech features but your kids will probably inherit these packs when we are long gone.

Filson has great stuff - Tin Cloth is tough.

Hartman is another good alternative you may want to consider.
You can find outlet stores for them occasionally as well - and the price drops significantly.

In a more traditional back pack - Swiss Army Backpacks are something you may want to check out too.

Targus (I think that's the name) seem to be very ruggedly built as well.

Thanks, could you give me any more info on Filson please?
i examined the filson bags at a scheels sporting goods store and was impressed. i bought a dbl. mackinaw cruiser though and didn't have enough money to buy a bag too. all filson gear is guaranteed for life.

I carry a Filson briefcase daily and cannot say enough good things about it:

A Becker Necker fits completely un-noticed in one of the end pockets.

However my next "almost EDC" bag for the woods will be one of these:
