I was hoping someone could give me some suggestions on good small sized knives that are good edc's. I have a kabar mini tdi right now and as wondering if anyone knew some that blew it out of the water. Thanks

BM 210tk activator neck knife. It has an absolutely stunning handle. The blade came razor sharp and is s30v so it holds that edge. Also the kydex sheath is great but you can also get a rayskin belt sheath. Its a good deal more expensive than the tdi though.

This has been my EDC fixed blade for about a month and a half.

Are you looking to stay with a folder or a fixed blade? Do you care about the weight or steel? I like the mini grips, delicas and caly 3 for folding EDCs.

It really depends on how big you want to go. Here is what I carry, almost every day:

Scrapyard Yard Guard, in a Rainwalker IWB Kydex Sheath.

I like all the smaller Bark Rivers for this task....mini-Northstar, mini-Skinner, mini-Canadian, the lil' Creek (first Bark RIver I ever wanted), and Dtown's Benchmade 210TK, GREAT little knife (one's around my kneck as I'm typing) :)

It depends on what you call small.
I like a Bob Dozier Straight Personal in his horizontal sheath.

One of the smaller barkrivers, I like the Wharncliffe EDC.
Or a Spyderco Ronin if you can find one, I would love to carry one (to bad I'm in California).

Аbsolutely. :thumbup:Even though I don`t carry a fixed blade for an EDC because of the rules my job, but a SAK Camper I can confirm that my Dozier K-2 General purpose is very comfortable to be used with one hand only, worn on the belt.

Bark River Escort

Muskratman Puukko

Bark River PSK but some might find it a bit too small, major cutter though

I still like my BM "Snody" Activator D2. Just a great sized knife (4 me) with everyday stuff. I am not a Tactical guy so I don't need jet black and serrations with scull crushing butt-caps. Give it a look...

mky fav edc FB's by far are by bud nealy (pesh kebz and amoeba) and al polkaswki (companion) because they both make great knives AND great sheaths which not all seem to be able to do, as far as productiion stuff the MOD razorback is ok and ya can find them fairly cheap, also a CRKT companion but ya need a custom sheath as the 2 which come with it both are trash imho, the spyderco perrin, temp & lum are also all good, and busse also makes some very good ones.

if ya want it strictly for SD imho the CRKT companion with a decent sheath are hard to beat for the $$, ya should be able to get the combo for ~$50 or so, not the greatest steel but good enough, i liked mine so much i got a custom polkawski companion, which is a lot better knife albeit more like $300 vs $50 lol, i like it so much because i love the handle design, works great for me, imho my hand and bob kaspers hand musta been similar in size as anything he designed works great for me (ie polkawski companion, crawford kasper and perfigo, etc).

If you have it in the budget, I third the suggestion of a knife from Bob Dozier. I have one, and I love it. You might also want to check out Dan Crotts, who works in Bob's shop as well as his own. He does excellent work and has a very reasonable wait time. Those makers will run you around $200 though.

Bark River makes some great EDC's. If you are going to be using this knife all day long (Looking at the Kabar you carry now, I'm guessing this might not be the case?), I would suggest taking extra care in picking a model with a handle size that fits your hand well. I have large hands, and find most of their smaller models to be way too small for sustained use in my big mitts.

The Benchmade Activators are some great knives as well. Handy little buggers that are less expensive than the options listed above, but perform really well.

If you are looking for a folder, I can't offer much help. The only one I ever carry is a Kershaw Double Duty. I have heard that the Dozier Kabars are a great deal for the money.

I hope you find something that suits you. Have fun looking. :D

Budget is always a consideration. I have been carrying a fixed blade as my EDC for years. All of them have a pocket sheath that fits comfortably in my right back pocket. It is almost impossible to beat some of the Blind Horse blades. I rotate between their Frontier and BHK patch knives and their new Workcliffe. I have a Snody in D2 but it was too expensive given the quality. I also have one of Les Voorhies little mini's in a kydex sheath and I'll carry that in my front pocket. You'll have a lot to choose from, lots of good blades out there. I have others, but they rearly go out.
