EDC fixed blade suggestions

Dan Koster makes a very nice EDC. This is the original V.1. He has since made three more, the V.4 being his latest. A good hand-filling handle, and a razor edged blade. This is a great knife for the money.

My EDC fixed blade is an RAT Cutlery RC-3. The knives are as great as the people who make them.

I agree with those who recommend Bark River. I've got a Mini-Northstar and a Mini-Canadian that I like a lot.

An inexepensive but outstanding small fixed blade just became available again: the Becker Necker by KaBar. I've got one of the old ones made by Camillus, and it's very handy. It'll open a Guinness for you too. ;)

Some more possibles have come to mind:

Bark River Compact Kephart in A2 could be a prospect.

I've heard about a new knife from Marbles USA called the Trailmate, about 3.25" blade in 154 with jigged bone handles and horizontal leather sheath.Anybody have one? I'm tempted.:D

Buck Gen 5 Skinner is a very well-made tough knife that's surprisingly versatile, inexpensive too and has a horizontal/vertical nylon sheath.Very useful smaller knife.

I really like my 52100 Spyderco Mule team. I had an IWB sheath made for it and I feel it is perfect size for EDC. Not to mention the 52100 is incredibly sharp and easy to make that way. Also the Perrin Street Beat from Spyderco is an amazing carry knife.

Imo the greatest edc fixed blade I've ever seen considering weight, feel, comfort of carry, performance, and value is a laminated mora. Either a #1 or #2 depending on preferred size.

I still like my BM "Snody" Activator D2. Just a great sized knife (4 me) with everyday stuff. I am not a Tactical guy so I don't need jet black and serrations with scull crushing butt-caps. Give it a look...

 Agree! I've got the 210TK Activator (in S30V) and it's an excellent EDC fixed blade. Small enough to not scare the shit out of people yet it has the size to tackle everyday tasks. It keeps an edge incredibly well so I don't have to worry about sharpening it all the time. And that's right, for an EDC you really don't need anything too tactical unless of course you're in the military or police force. Plus it looks good. :D

I'm tempted, too... That looks nice!

I'd recommend any of the smaller Bark River knives. My edc rotation often includes either the IMP or the Hedgehog (on my belt as I type this). Great utility blades, and I really use the heck out of them both at work and at home.
