My RDC is a Kershaw Junk Yard Dog and a Kershaw Leek. Im looking for a EDc fixed blade. Any suggestions? and what the best carry for a EDC fixed blade? Thanks for any and all info.

Smaller blades in the sub-4" range are more useful for EDC and easier to carry comfortably. Moras, Smaller ESEE's and Bark Rivers, etc. In the woods a longer knife can be useful, but a lot can be done with a surprisingly small blade, and you have better control, too.

Welcome to bladeforums!

Are you familiar with ESEE? I usually EDC the Junglas as a neck knife... here I am pictured doing so...

Ok, in all seriousness though, neck knife carry is my favorite method of carrying a small fixed blade. Here are my reasons why...

1. It's concealed. Very concealed.

2. It's fun.

3. It frees up room in my pockets, which are usually stuffed full of crap all of the time anyways, like my keys, lighter, phone, flashlight, wallet, multi-tool, etc. Any opportunity I have to free up some space in there is great...

4. Belt carry is not appropriate for my work, so that option is out.

5. It just works. For me, it works extremely well and I enjoy it the most of any carry method.

Neck carry isn't for everybody, but all knife lovers should give it a fair shot to determine if it's for you or not. I carry an Izula around my neck in the woods in addition to my other tools (Gransfors Bruks Hatchet, Junglas, etc.), but my main EDC is my Murray Carter Neck Knife.

Welcome, and good luck!

Junglas necker I love it:D

In addition to the production brands mentioned, keep an eye on the fixed blade subforum of the knifemakers' for sale area. Many of the knives that get listed there would be a good size for EDC.

On my belt:

The fixed blade obviously. Coye Ridgeback in 154cm with od G-10 on black G-10 liners.

I prefer to keep my EDC fixed blade small enough to fit in the pocket. The ESEE Izula is a fantastic choice and i just picked up a CRK Professional Soldier which i am going to carry.

I like BRKT and I EDC a Woodland Special. It works well on my belt or in one of the KSF pocket sheaths.

I like my little Fehrman Peacemaker, perfect size for my needs. I still need to get a new leather pancake style sheath made for it.

I switch around between these..
Eskabar w/ izula scales in pocket, or using paracord, on my belt.
BRKT STS-3, sheath rides high.
Fiddleback EDC, wonderful knifes sheath rides low.
Bark river PSK 154CM, or pocket folder.
ESEE HEST sometimes.
At work I have a Klein electricians knife and or a Boker Cop tool. The Boker is a good chisel, scraper, and all round pry tool. I often work at banks and don't want to have a big ol' fixed blade on my side.

Spyderco streetbeat.

I'm really fond of Bark River's small fixed blades, certainly not cheap, but some really nice designs, and some interesting steels to play with. My current favorite is the Lil Canadian in 3V, great ergos and very impressive steel.
Before that, an Izula rode in my pocket for quite some time, until it went to my girlfriend. Its an incredible knife at a reasonable price, almost an essential IMO for people into edc fixed blades.

The swamp rat swamp warden is a good one as well as the bark river psk I realy like the esee izula though I haven't tried the micrata scales.

I like my Busse Game Warden or Active Duty, for a slightly smaller edc fixed I'll use my Rick Haney Hollowpoint or my ESEE Izula..........

I like a little Tortorich custom caper, a bark river micro Canadian, a Benchmade 211 activator, a Crkt Stubby Pocket Razel, and a TOPS Ferret for fixed EDC. I've been making kydex sheaths with clips that hang on my belt loop then go in my front pocket. I find them easier to get to than a neck knife and still unobtrusive.
