Edc flashlight??

Got my Maratac today, and I definitely underestimated how tiny this thing is! A ketchup bath would probably make it a little brighter than it came and had a time getting the clip off. I like it a lot though.

Did any of you guys have issues switching between modes when you first got it? I first put in a duracell alkaline since that's all I had and maybe 60% of the time the different modes would actually come on. I got some energizer lithiums and it had the same issue. I then cleaned the contact with some alcohol and it seems to be working better now. Very bright on high for a AAA. Is there anything special y'all are putting on the threads? Seems a little bit gritty switching between the modes.

In comparison to a small Sebenza.

Edit: After cleaning the threads thoroughly, it's performing much better and smoother. I guess I need to hunt down some Nyogel for lube.

I got a keychain light today, probably much bigger than the maratac, and less light at 85 lumens.
I took a pic next to a small and large sebbie.

I went with the Aluminum Rev3
I think you will like it. Though I think the copper is a shade too heavy for a key chain light, I'm surprised it didn't come with a split ring I can at least tie a lanyard to. I'm definitely glad it has 3 modes and finding it very useful. Mines almost toylike, but a nice toy lol. Still amazed at the power of the little thing. If you don't like it, I might take it off your hands. ;)

I'll be getting it in a couple weeks when I'm back Stateside. I'll be taking it with me on a camping trip, so I'll put it through its paces! I'm excited to see what it can do.

Does anyone have any experience with the Maratac AAx2 Tactical light shown here:

620 lumens off of two AAs? And for 1.5 hours on top of that? I'm no expert, but I'd think that might be a little ambitious. My Surefire Fury is listed at 500 lumens for 1.5 hours and that's with two CR123s.

The price is right though and maybe worth checking out. Just wish they were in stock though.

I picked this little light up about 4 years or so ago at Blade Show and have been carrying it ever since. It's a one AA flashlight that puts out 110 lumens. great little everyday in your pocket forget you have it til you need it light

oh yeah, and quite affordable as well

The light that's found itself in my pocket the most this year would be the Zebralight SC52w. Just so versatile even though I'd rate its tint as one of the worst of my EDCable lights.

Im kinda late joining in ... but I have found streamlights burn through batteries as a much faster rate then other brands I've owned.

I do own a couple Surefires and no complaints at all ... but I tried Fenix ... and I now own 8 different Fenix models. Most use rechargable batteries but still give great battery life between charges ... and I have yet to find any brand that matches the out put for the light size and battery life and so many options of modes to run that are easy to figure out. So I guess there may be better ... but for my experiences and my money I have found nothing that will be replacing my Fenix lights in the near future.

From the Fenix LD12 up to the Fenix TK47 ... hard to beat the quality and prices ... especially with rechargable batteries.

I've been carrying a CRKT F1000 for a couple of years. It's nothing special and doesn't get much attention on forums, but the pocket clip placement alone has made it my favorite and first choice for EDC.

On my keychain, a Fenix EO5, filled with a lithium battery and an aftermarket slide on pocket clip ( to affix it to a hat brim). There’s also a yellow light Photon Freedom, carried backward in its neck dangler, to prevent accidental “ on”. This duo has served me well for many years.

Thanks for all the info guys:)
I'm leaning towards the fenix e-12, I do wish it had zoom like my little ultrafire.

I just got a Fenix e12, and it’s been working well for me. My only gripe is that I wish it had a clip. Does anyone know of a source for a clip that would fit the light?
