Hello, I'm looking for a folder for EDC, I have a budget of 100$. Right now, the only knife I have is a Spyderco Delica, wich is a good knife, but I'd like something a little bigger. I know CRKT make knives in my price range, but I read the quality isn't as good. As for spydercos and benchmades I don't really know what could I get in this price range, other than delica and endura.
Well, any input will be appreciated.

EDIT : I wanted to post this in the Blade Discussion Forum, I don't know if it's appropriated here, so feel free to move the thread.

I like the spyderco para-military,military or benchmade full size griptilian.I'm sure you'll get a lot more suggestions here.

+1 for the Griptilian. Excellent, excellent knives for the price. Did I mention that they are excellent . . .:D

Thanks for these suggestions guys, the griptillian really does look good, the military and para-military are nice to. I'll try to find them in a local shop, since I'd like to handle the knife before I buy it.

I'll second the call for the Griptillian from Cabella's with a D2 blade. I have the mini version, I used it slicing up 2-3" thick plastic film layers, edge held up pretty well. The BK1 coating holds up well(though I've only had this for less than a month). The coating on the pocket clip wears off easy though. Tough bastid to touch up the edge, with a medium diamond DMT sharpener and Spyderco Sharpmaker medium ceramic stones(from an older kit circa '98). Locks up well, no side play, looks like PB washers between the blade and liners. Easy to open and close. The adjustable pivot required no adjustment out of hte box. It came with a little drawstring cloth baggie. Alot of guys at work envy the knife, more so than my BM42S balisong. Expect about $9 for shipping charges from them. Forgot to add that mine was a combo edge, with my fav type of serrations(the rounded points, instead of the pointed style on Spyderco's)

Spyderco Native, $40 bucks at your local Mall Wart, slightly more online. Best ergonomics of any knife I've ever handled, S30V, strong lock, one-handed opening & closing.

Like most everyone else has recommended, the Benchmade Griptilians will do you well. Various steels available, though the S30V breaks your $100 limit by a little bit. The Axis lock is the best on the market right now, IMO. I'd go with the full-size one, the handles on the mini-grips are too small for my tastes.

The Native has displaced my 558 (mini Ritter-grip) as my EDC, for what it's worth - see my comparative review here.

Find a knife store and handle as many knives as you can before you buy anything.

Well, you could get a dozen Opinels. They're good knives.

A Laguiole or two, would be nice.

A Spyderco Military as found on the bay "Buy it Now."

A Benchmade Grip.

Recommend following sprokker's advice,"Find a knife store and handle as many knives as you can before you buy anything."

For just a tad over your budget, I'd carry the Ritter "RSK" version of the Benchmade Griptillian.

I like the smaller version: Mini RSK

But if you want something bigger, the full size is nice too: RSK

I like these because I prefer the blade shape over the normal Griptillian and find it both more functional, as well as less 'menacing' looking.

I also prefer the S30V steel they come in and the ambi thumb studs. The Axis lock is really slick.

The Mini RSK just feels right for me. And it comes in yellow which is cool!

I'll follow sprokker's advice, it would probably be better to handle all the knives you suggested before making a definitive choice, I'll probably go with another Spyderco, or maybe the Grip if I can find one. They seem hard to find where I live (Montreal).

Gads, a Canadian.

I feel sorrow for your plight up there.

You might wish to contact some of the other forum members from Canada to assist you in your search.

Mr. Vess (of quality leather craft fame) is the only one that comes to mind, but there are others. Check "the Canadian Connection" section.

Good luck and stay sharp.

You can buy a Spyderco Persian on eBay for about $70, or a Chinook for about $80. I see a lot of Spyderco Military models kicking around for under $100. If you're lucky you still may be able to find a Benchmade 910HS in M2 or one of the 72x series for around $100. Those are my recommendations!

What about the Dilaex Adventura from Spyderco? Nice blade shape, and an eccentric pivot. Looks nice to me, and I believe its VG10, which is one of my all-time favorite steels.
