edc for around $20

Byrd Cara Cara in G10

SanRenMu 710

When I saw this thread I told myself I was not going to mention this one. I fear to be called a spammer advertising products that damage good ol' american values. So I don't mention the 710.

Besides, although it may be a good EDC, it is way below your spending limit, so forget it.

Looking for a good knife that will last.....
solid lock up
fast deployment
good blade steel
I know all of these things are a lot to ask for this price range, but I know there has to be some pretty good options out there. :D
I was looking at the Kershaw Chill, any opinions??
Thanks!

Kershaw's Chill is a good little flipper for the $$ , very lightweight !

The recommended KaBar/Dizoer folders are excellent choice , solid lockup , razor sharp Aus8 , also lightweight.
I dont know about the Rat1 folder , I'm sure it's a good buy but the looks of it do not do anything for me at all.

Kershaw also has a few other nice , new additions that are very wallet friendly.

Hey, I understand that some people dislike the origin of the product. But, we live in a global economy, and for under $20 it is hard to beat the quality you get in an SRM710, setting politics aside.

1. Buck Vantage Select
2. Ontario Rat 1 Folder
3. Any of the Kabar Dozier folders
4. Spyderco Tenacious
5. Byrd Meadowlark
6. Victorinox Soldier Alox
7. Any Opinel basically lol
8. Spyderco Persistence
9. Case Sodbuster
There are more but those are the first few that come to mind.
Happy Hunting :D

For < $20:
Buck Vantage select
Buck 327 Nobleman
Sanrenmu 710 (actually ~$10)
or any Kershaw that you can find at this price point

For just a little more:
Kershaw Skyline
Buck Vantage Avid
Spyderco Tenacious or Persistence

The Ka-Bar Dozier looks like a great knife for the price. Dozier would not allow his name on it if it wasn't. There are alot of posts on here about them and people really like them. I am thinking about getting one. I want to just get the black handls/silver blade model. For only $20 bucks, its tough to beat it I am thinking.

spend a bit more and go for a G10 kershaw skyline. super light weight, sharp enuf for most needs, large enuf as well.

The Kershaw Skyline is a great knife, but it is more of a medium-duty to light-duty knife, and IMO, the liner lock will wear fairly fast due to the low contact area. Makes for a great pocket scalpel though, I thinned the edge on mine and went up to 1000 grit ceramic and it works great for everything. Never tried to really polish the edge though.

The SRM 710 is a good knife, but if you want something bigger I'd go for a Spyderco Tenacious or one of the Byrd line.

I just bought a Kershaw Half-Ton and it is a very impressive knife. The fact that it costs under twenty bucks (under $15?) makes it extremely impressive. :)

Check one out!

Stay sharp,

For around that price, the Rat-1 is a prime option...blade might be too long for ya though.

As others have said, save up some and get one of the renowned EDC classics: Spyderco Delica 4, Kershaw Leek, or Benchmade Mini Griptilian.
