EDC gear thread

I was directing my comment to your post since I didn't know what all of the non-knife tools were, and were used for, etc. Are the piggy items bottle openers? Is the pry bar designed to pry something specific? I know, I must be EDC clueless. Thanks.

Yes, but more than that they raised money for charity through the HATE Project. They are custom Hogs of Hope from different makers, auctioned off with 100% of the money raised going to various worthy charitable organizations. Those in the pic won't get to pry bottles, but I have others that do.

... I want an INFI one. :) Gotta get Rob & Jerry together drinkin @ Blade... ;)

The small pry/opener in the pic (bottom one in image below) is generally what gets the "daily" use, being strike plate Ti. Used the opener plenty, haven't had to use the pry yet, but it's small, kinda light, hard as heck, can double as a flathead driver. I don't go crazy for all the pocket filler, but I do have a few small addictions... Steel Flame, HATE Project, these 2 prybars from Sean Cherry, he was very generous to donate them to a good cause raffle. He's getting back into making small knives again, and I like them too, so there may be more AGC incoming. :)

Man, some of you carry a lot of stuff!

For me, it's my Harley key, house key, SAK left front pocket. iPhone 6 left rear. HD chain wallet right rear. Nice slipjoint right front (rotates). AMS on belt.

Everything gets used for different stuff.

Shemagh - has come in useful more than once
Maxpedition pouch with all-weather note pad, space pen, carabiner compass/thermometer, firesteel, Ontario Rat-2, Maglight, Sharpie, pens, band aids, disposable wipes, poncho, paw-paw ointment. Also usually contains a Leatherman Wingman but I recently sold it to a mate who was going overseas and haven't got round to replacing it yet.
On the key ring, el-cheapo pry bar, and Nite Ize DoohicKey
'Tactical' pen
Busse BG-AMS
Reel Steel H5 Gerfalcon (rides in coin pocket generally)
Leatherman Charge TTi (rides in nylon pouch on right hip)
Gerber Tritac flashlight (rides in nylon pouch on left hip - will replace with something better one of these days)
Not in pic, Casio G-Shock solar watch and home made paracord bracelet

In the back of my 4WD rides a box which has some serious wet weather gear, sleeping bag, water, rope, food and a LifeStraw.

ozgooner, I'd put a pencil in there, either with, or to replace a pen. They don't run out of ink, and can be reduced to shavings for a fire starter if need be.

I've heard of people putting pencil sharpeners into their bags to use for tinder making. Just sharpen up some twigs and you're done.

I don't carry a lot of stuff, as a rule. Usually have a one hand opener clipped to right front pocket, an Olight S10R in same pocket. It has 4 brightness levels, and a good throw, and will fit in a watch pocket. I'll have a traditional pocket knife in my left front pocket. P-38 can opener on my keychain, I've had it since Infantry Training School after I left boot camp in 86. At minimum, a G43 on my hip. Once cool weather hits, a bigger launcher usually takes its place.

Now, in my flight suit at work, I have a SAK Huntsman in my left sleeve pocket, with ink pen and a sharpie. Right breast pocket is a Leatherman Micra and a photon style led keychain light. Left breast pocket a small spiral notebook. On my main zipper pull is an ITP A3 EOS flashlight that is mainly used for walk arounds prior to night flights. A Spyderco Tenacious right front pocket, a bandana left front pocket. Right leg pocket is a Fenix PD32, trauma shears, and a pair of forceps. Right ankle pocket is an Altoids PSK with fire starting materials. The kit is wrapped with 12' of paracord, and secured with a ranger band. Similar kit in left ankle pocket, with signal mirror, compass, whistle, 2 yds of duct tape, and a space blanket.

Good call. I'll get on to that.

Also forgot that in the Maxpedition pouch is usually an Altoids tin with spare batteries for the flashlight, a small lighter, paracetemol and ibuprofen, and a couple of other bits and pieces. Not sure where that's got to just at the moment.

ozgooner, how big is that shemagh? I'm looking for a few over 42" x 42"...48"-50" per side after washing is ideal. Does anyone have suggestions on where to look for larger sized ones?

It's 120x120 cm so around 47" square. Made by an Aussie company called Huss. I have a few, either in that green or a 'desert sand' and black.

Sweet set up OZ! We have similar tastes...

Lawrie
