My first knife in a long time. I need help! The speed safe assist doesn't engage and it's super tight. I've loosened the pivot but then the alignment is off, which then makes the blade basically touch the "liner"/handle. Thinking of returning it, thoughts? But it's what I carried today...

After the first couple of years of abuse my first kershaw leek wouldn't engage the frame lock with the speedsafe, I took it apart, cleaned and lubbed it up (be careful not to wash of any grease still there form the factory, thats the stuff you want, just get rid of grm/dirt/sand etc) and now it's as good as new.

It's a tricky little mechanism (to my unmechanical mind at least ) so pay close attention when taking it apart and even do a drawing so you can put it back together. However it you've only just got it you may want to send it back to save messing with any kind of warranty.
