Bought a load of cherry tomatoes in the market and thought I’d roast them slowly in the oven and then use them to make a thick Italian-style soup with cavatappi pasta. Since I was using the Case Sodbuster Woodrow F Call kindly sent me, I thought I’d dust the tomatoes with Tony Charcere’s Creole Seasoning (also sent to me by Woodrow) prior to roasting :) (Not sure if I can say 'BAM!' or not! :D)

Morning walk in the local woods trying to get my addled mind clear before talking to adults in the working world. Light rain falling. Mixed woods with plenty of pine trees...

The trick here is to practice making fire without mucking up the area for those who come along later. Coffee can bottom makes a small fire base to minimize the damage. Shavings are courtesy of my Buck 500.

The small fire plate favors a "log cabin" style fire.

I'm not opposed to "cheating" a bit. A small cache of pre-cut tack cloth rides in the fanny pack. Wrapped around a twig, it makes an easy to control torch.

The torch makes it easy to get the flame in the middle of the shaving bundle.

Nice to smell the fire while feeling with woods hiss with rain.

After the fire dies out, it's super easy to douse with water and dispose with the ash and cinders in a safe place. No fuss. No muss. And back to the world of keyboards....

Jack the sodbuster is looking good, and so is your soup.
Pinnah, happy to see you had some alone time, it's nice to decompress, the woods always works for me.

White Owl is such a light pocket carry, goes unnoticed, and is a great little worker, I think it will be a really nice summer carry.

It helped out with the garlic, limes, ginger, and green beans

I always have a CRKT Rollock in my left pocket, and I value it almost as much as the Micro-Tech SOCOM Elite manual in my watch pocket. I cut out the bottom of the watch pockets in my jeans and that big SOCOM fits great. Sometimes I carry a Spyderco Ulize, in place of the Micro-Tech, but it's so big that I hate to open it in public. The watch pocket trick has worked well for carrying a larger knife, without a big clip sticking out of your pocket. And, who would ever think a big knife would be in there? Ever try it? Like a lot of you, I have a collection, and I can switch, but I keep coming back to just a few.
