EDC III Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Stoked to find my S30V Blur waiting for me when I got home last night. De-assisted it 5 minutes after I pulled it out of the box. Talk about smooth! This mother's gonna be in my pocket for the rest of the week, at least!

How do you like the Opera? Sturdy feeling? Any blade play?

I've been thinking about grabbing one. It kind of reminds me of the kabar dozier folders, but better materials obviously(which is mainly why I want one).

What kind of treatment did you do to the blade? Looks awesome!

I can be candid about this Opera. To answer your question, it has NO blade play. In fact, when I got it and manipulated the blade out (it's not exactly flickable, and isn't the fastest deployment out there), it locked up with that SNIKT, and then I was holding what actually feels like a really strong, capable knife. I have to say that in that way, it feels almost exactly like my Gayle Bradley (as you can see, also pictured), which was much to my surprise given how much less I paid for the Opera. What I like about it is that, to me, its fit, finish, and design definitely reflect its origin. You can tell in some of the details, like the thin pocket clip, the shape of the handle, the exposed lanyard hole, and so on. It just "feels" different than my ZTs/BMs/Spydercos. This is a REALLY nice knife for the money. Lastly, for what I've seen these go for on That Auction Site and other places, it's absolutely worth what you're getting.

Great knife, GrownStar. You know, I have had multiple Blurs and have ended up giving them all away to friends at one time or another. I don't know why, I just can't seem to keep them around. I seem to recall seeing one at one point that was almost an auto-knife version, with a little button you pushed to deploy it, and the blade had a stonewash finish, but I can't say for sure if it was a Blur, or another Kershaw.

Ok let's have some fun...

...

This is a fantastic post! I like seeing rare, innovative, and awesome knives. I LOVE, when their information is posted along with them! The inclusion of that spec sheet makes that one of my favourite posts in a long time. Great work!

Today I will have my new (to me) large micarta Insingo again:

These four have turned into a solid edc rotation. I'll usually have any two of them in my pockets on any given day.

Whatup, brother? It's funny you say that. This is probably the 3rd or 4th Blur I've owned. I've gifted one, sold 1 or 2 and even pawned one once upon a time to get some diaper money. So when I saw this one pop up on the exchange, I figured I'd better snatch it up. Plus, the deal was just too good to pass up! I'm gonna try and hold onto this one for a while :D

Also, that pocket bowie you posted earlier is beautiful. I meant to reply to your pic but you beat me to it haha.

EDIT: As far as Kershaw autos, maybe it was a Rogue or Breakout?

Thanks brother. I've already had two of the three buds I showed it to try to buy it from me on the spot. I told 'em I couldn't, I just got the darn thing and haven't learned anything about it yet!!

I may eventually pick up another Blur myself. Of course, I'll probably be seen as an outcast, because I personally enjoy assisted open knives, and I know the Blur is a popular de-assist-mod knife. I may see if I can track down that auto-version (if that's truly what it was, and I wasn't just remembering incorrectly).

Haha what can I say? Controversy just seems to follow you around ;)

I think the Blur one of, if not THE best assisted openers Kershaw produces. It just feels right. That being said, I had never tried one de-assisted so I went ahead and took the torsion bar out of this one. I like it so far. Only time will tell if I keep it this way.

What is the knife on the far right, please?

That is a Sardinian resolza made by a Mr. Osai and son's, Pattada Sardinia. Very finely made knife, a friction folder like an Opinel without the locking ring. Very lightweight for it's size, and cuts like a laser. Handle is goat horn, and feel in hand is almost sensuous. Pull is snug but smooth all the way out. It's a very typical and traditional knife in Sardinia.

Looks like a Sardinian knife called a Resolza (Pattadese). I could be wrong though, I get a little lost in the world of European regional cutlery.

EDIT: looks like Jackknife beat me to it... at least I was right. :)

That is GORGEOUS. God, this place. On the List it goes.

Really been on a Benchmade kick since I sent them my 710 the other day, maybe I'm trying to will them into doing what I want.

Did some polishing on my flat-ground 555-
