EDC IV Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

I really didn't like the yojimbo the first time I saw it, but it is definitely growing on me. Unfortunately there aren't to many back alleys where I live, so I really don't have a use for it.:D

Haha what'sup, Sappy? I was in the same boat a few months ago, but then I found one for a good price and now that it's actually in my hand I can honestly say I've seen the light! You get a good amount of blade and it actually feels a lot lighter than the 4 oz it's listed at. I've heard some people say you either love or hate the ergos but I think the lines are very organic and help fill the hand very well.

As far as the back alley thing goes, I'll let you in on a little secret. It actually does surprisingly well as a utility blade! I work in the receiving area of a major college library and this thing excels at tearing down boxes, opening packages, and cutting up pallets of books wrapped up in heavy packing tape and zip ties.

One more shot so I can shut up!

Red Kershaw Blur combo edge (love the serrations on this knife)

Black DLC Kershaw Leek plain edge

Both in the "knife pocket" of the winter/"tacticool" pants I'm wearing. They're truspec tactical (once known as climbing) pants I guess, but great for winter as they're water proof and big enough to wear sweat pants under. And they have lots of pickets, Velcro flap that covers the back wallet pockets so it's impossible for anything to fall out and impossible to be pick pocketed, and they have 2 cool pen/knife style pockets right inbetween the front and back pocket. Great for knives as long as they aren't wide. My PM2 fits but anything wide then that won't. Usually I carry a knife in the right one and my 70lumen penlight in the left one. Still leaves my 2 front and 2 back pockets free for other stuff without knives getting in the way. I'd wear these more but they're pricey, about $50. I have one pair and wear them as much as possible during the winter months. Great for snow since they're water resistant.

Well, essentially it's a utility blade on steroids, long enough to cut stuff "out of the box"... :D

The only two wharnies that I like better than this are the Hinderer's and this:

Oh man, Snody makes a great looking blade!

And don't even get me started on the XM. To be honest, a 3.5 wharnie is a grail for me. Who knows? Maybe one day ZT will make a regular production version! A man can dream!
