It will get smoother. It's a knife you have to break in. Both lock and blade opening will get better. Great knife, I find the lock design superior to the axis lock.

It's not a new knife, I've used it on and off, 1 to 2wks at a time for half a year, the opening is very smooth and fast, but the lock is as stiff as the day I got it, can't open it with one finger like the axis lock. I have sort of just accepted it.
