EDC knives get a home for bedtime

So, I have been wanting a better place than a drawer to keep my edc knives when it is bedtime.

I have been thinking a jewelry box would work great.

So I talked the daughter out of a smallish one she had in her room (she has 4 or 5 of those things)

Anyone else here ever talked their wife or daughter into giving up a jewelry box?

Anyway..... it holds some slipjoints and a few pocket size locking blade knives.
Not all of them, but a good amount :)
Not big enough to also hold any of the ones I wear on my belt though, but they go in the nightstand drawer anyway.

Someday I will find a big enough one to hold them all, but that can wait because I am happy with how this is working out so far :)

That jewelry box certainly works and with a nice velvet interior to keep the knives comfy.
You also have a mirror to see how you look in the morning holding a certain knife. :p

That is what I was thinking too :p
I figured they would be safer in there than in a big drawer, and a little more organised.

That'll work. I picked up a wooden tool chest, actually two from cheap tool store. Price is higher now than what I paid but they work well, hold lots of knives and you can lock them to keep sticky fingers off your stuff. Not what I'd call secure storage but they are good enough to keep the little hands off sharp things.

Oh, now that is a great idea! I like it!!

Luckily the kids, twins, a boy and a girl, are 18 now, so I don't have to worry about blood spillage too much.
Shoot.... getting them to come out of their own rooms is the real challenge :D

If my gal decides to take up whittling, I may be in trouble then.

I could get the locking, rolling, metal tool chest out of the garage and put it in our room.
BUT......my gal would likely make me sleep in the garage from then on :o

If you want cigar boxes goto the fleamarket. The 2 local ones to me both have a few vendors buried in boxes, some were pretty nice. Might even find something better there. I bought a little mini shelf thing from a TJ Maxx, they had some other things i have thought of trying.

More good ideas :)
The closest flea market is maybe 25 miles away, but there are a few goodwill stores nearby.
At some point, I will have to check them out.

Make your own, I make stuff like that all the time. Some nice red oak or poplar gum curly maple. I just made a stone prop. Turned out nice

It's much more appealing when u make it yourself :)

That is a great idea! I am not sure if my woodworking skills are up to par, for making a knife storage jewelry box though.

I need to make a stone holder for my ceramic stone. Definately would be helpful! That one I could make :)

I can make you one identical if you will pay shipping :) it will accommodate a one three quarter inch to a 10 inch stone and 2 and a quarter wide lil over 14 inches long, bumps it up a ill over a inch and a half.

That is a super kind offer :) I think I will give it a try, and see if I make a decent one with the scrap woods I have laying around.
I may fail miserably :D
If I do fail, I just might take you up on that super kind offer!

I need a ceramic!

Check the big auction site, "1000 grit ceramic sharpening stone"
I payed $7 and free shipping.
I use that one more often than anything else.
I have 375 and 750 grit Buck diamond benchstones for dull knives, but the ceramic is perfect for finishing an edge, and maintaining that edge.
Shoot, I can even get them sharp enough to shave my face with, using that ceramic stone :)

Someone should really design a knife dresser and sell them. Im not really keen on the storage bags makers sell or ppl using hard cases.
