EDC Lights?

Glad I was able to help...mine should arrive today. I'll post up fotos when I get it.:)

Excellent - I'll look forward to seeing the photos. I suspect I won't see mine until at least the end of the week or next week.

I also have a little $8 ThruNite AAA single mode on the way - should be here Thursday. I'll post photos of both when they arrive. Two distinctly different lights from opposite ends of the small light scale.

And I am guessing by your user name that you are a Veteran - and as such I will thank you (a day late) for your service.

I just got one of these and I'm really happy with it.

Its advertised as 300 lumens, but from what I've read its actually a little under 200 with a 14500 battery but its still amazingly bright even with just a AA. At least over 100 lumens with a AA from comparisons to my other lights. For $3-$4 from china or ~$5 from a US seller its really hard to beat. Mine is a 3 mode with high, low and strobe but there are a lot of 1 mode models out there too. It sounds like it can be a crapshoot which one you get but for the price I think its worth it either way. I'll definitely be picking a few more up in the future when I have some extra cash.

Also, the Thrunite Ti2 and TiS are pretty good smaller lights for not a lot of money. I don't own either yet but I intend to pick one up in the future, and I've only heard good things.
I have one of those 4 dollar wonders. 2, actually. I have no way to test it, but I believe 300 lumens. Its certainly brighter than all of my other flashlights, the next highest rated@200.

I have to agree with the folks who suggest Maratac flashlights. I own a AAA, and just got their Gen 3 2 X AA flashlight; best bang for the buck, IMHO. Get 'em at County Comm.com

I'm looking at getting the new Generation II Powertac 130 Lumen E3 keychain flashlight. I haven't found any on the web except the Powertac web site which only has pink. The original is the same price, but 90 lumens, and I'm all about a mega power house on such a small keychain flashlight...

Here's some quick, not so glamorous, iPhone pics. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the titanium clip was shortened and no longer rests on any rotating part of the bezel. Several reviews complained that the clip would score a line around the light unless one lifted the clip before opening the flashlight to change batteries. I also find the output of the CR123A to be greater than that when using the extender with AA batteries. All in all, I'm very pleased with this finely engineered and fit and finish of this torch...

How is the run time on it?

Very nice. Mine should be here on Friday. I hope mine also has the shortened clip. Very nice looking light.

My ThruNite AAA single mode should be here on Thursday.

Those two combined should be all I need: a small AAA and then a reasonably powerful Sunwayman CR123.

I don't know what color you bought, but mine is called "gray", and the AA battery extender is called "black"...well, the fact is that the light and the extender are a perfect match in color, so it's either gray or black; black to me. Also, besides the complaints of the longer clip, now having been fixed, many are requesting that the battery extender come in other colors to match up with the body colors...so, if you bought another color other than black/gray, I would wait for the inevitable introduction of matching body color extenders. Oddly, the lights offered for sale in Asia and Africa have a brightly polished finish as opposed to our USA subdued flat anodizing, and their extenders come in matching colors...go figure.

I didn't get the extender. I bought the natural color - as that was all that was remaining (or so it appeared), though it appears that gray is now available. Anyway, mine should be here on Friday. we'll see if mine has the shorter clip.

Another BTW, the new shorter clip is actually not new, it's the same clip that was always used for the titanium M11R. What you get will depend on how recent the manufacture of your torch, though I suspect Sunwayman would send you a shorter clip if one asked.

Streamlight ProTac 2AA works fine and can be had for about $30. Decent runtime, bright, and three modes (Hi, strobe, low) for whatever task is at hand.

This is a good light. I carry a ProTac 2L which is the CR123 version. Shorter and brighter with same three modes. Downside of course, CR123s aren't cheap.

I just got the eagletac d25c clicky...holy cow. It cranks out almost 300 lumens on a single c123 battery and has many modes, four brightness levels multiple sos, strobe, and flash modes with overall dimness up and down as well as a memory setting for the modes. Got it on the exchange here and I'm about to grab the d25a since the batteries are a little cheaper but it's not quite as bright. Would definitely recommend the d25c though so much bright in a little package.

Two lights arrived in the mail today: a ThruNite AAA single mode rated at 60 lumens and a Sunwayman M11R, which takes 1 CR123, and is rated at around 200 lumens peak (three modes, plus strobe and SOS). I thought I had ordered the natural color (titanium type color), but clearly I must have ordered what they call gray, which looks black to me.

At $8, the ThruNite is an absolute bargain. There is a two-mode version of this light, but from what I can see since the modes are activated by the force of the head being pushed against the battery, it tends to jam on high mode after a day or two.

Anyway, the M11R at $54 shipped is certainly the better of the two lights, and the low mode would be fantastic for reading. I'm sure that higher voltage 123 batteries would create more lumens, but I'm finding it plenty bright as it is. It's a pocket flashlight - not a monster. The supplied holster is a nice touch.

I'd be interested now to purchase a Maratac AAA, and may just do that.

Still rockin' a Surefire Executive Elite. I like it because it's been paid for for a long time now, its totally retro, and it still gets the job done.

I also have a Streamlight MicroStream which is very nice
