EDC - need knife recomendation

Most suggestions are completely ignoring your under 3oz weight spec so I'll post one. If you look at stuff right at 3oz you could get a Spyderco Ambitious for around $30 on Ebay.

Here's about 20 pages of 3 ounce or under knives that could ship under $30.
http://www.bladehq.com/cat--Manual-...ilter.weight.high=3.5&sort.price_sort_asc=asc

Unfortunately that list includes some >3oz. Knives as well... It apparently includes anything under 4oz: 3.9 oz. Is still not 4oz. and thus included under "3 oz." according to it's search parameters. CRKT Drifter and Pazoda were the first two I noticed, namely the Pazoda since I own one of the larger ones, and knew it had a bit of weight to it, as well as a few of the Boker Magnum models, so it's not 100% accurate...

Not sure why, but from my phone I can't use "weight" as a search parameter, but if went by 0 - 2 oz. It should in essence include everything up to 2.9 oz.
(Also I don't think a list of "folders" includes "assisted" Knives, but would need a separate list; as I didn't see the Kershaw 2.45oz Amplitude or the 3oz. Oso Sweet listed, and both are assisted).

I know the ones I suggested, as well as the kabar dozier mentioned by someone else are all listed at true to 3oz. or less...

That Schrade sch401 series looks like a decent cheap choice as well fwiw.

So delete the weight filter, and redo the filter slider to 2 ounces. Yeah it doesn't look that accurate. Too bad, it would be a good tool to use. I think the original Shuffle is pretty light, and the new one is right at 3 oz. Personally, I love the Centofante III. Good sized blade for such a light piece, just double the price or so. Definitely lots of smaller Shrades are super light. I also have a small Kizer in S35VN with titanium liners and G10 scales that is a great little knife, but a bit over 3oz.

I do love the Ember for what it is, and it meets all criteria, plus wields like a bigger knife.

I checked this out and you guys are correct. These filters weren't working correctly.

I fixed them, so they should work correctly now. Also I fixed the bug on phones, so it should work there as well. Thanks for the heads up.

I edc a Leatherman PS4 and Thrunite TI light. I'm looking for a sub 30$ knife, sub 3oz, to pair with this edc. I think highly of Kershaw, Spyderco, Victorinox in this low-end category...not sure which models exactly...

Does a Kershaw Nura 3.0 fit the bill? :D

I can see the list posted via the link, using weight as a filter, but when delete the weight option, and/or I try to create a search for myself, "weight" just simply doesn't appear as an option...

I can do price, length, blade material, handle material, color, blade shape, manufacturer, country of origin, lock type, finish, best use, opener, popular designer, and a couple others, definitely the best search features available compared to any other site I've seen... But "weight" simply isn't an option when I'm on my phone. Android if that helps.

I think it is 3.7 oz - closer to 4 oz anyway, but it is a good knife. I have the 3.0 and 3.5. They are both nice for the $$. KVT's are smooth after breaking them in.

I finally went with a Kershaw Cryo G10. It should arrive in a few days. I also grabbed a larger Kershaw Thermite at the same time for good measure.

I must say, that the Spyderco Persistence has also grabbed my attention, I might pick one up if the Cryo G10 doesn't meet expectations.

Thanks for input guys

Great knives for the money - I have both of those. Neither is under 3oz. though. I probably would have suggested others if you would have said 5 ounces was fine :)

Anyway, you got a couple of good ones. The cryo is 3.81 ounces and the Thermite is 4.90 ounces. QC varies a bit on those, but the last Cryo G10 and stonewashed Thermite I received had great fit and finish. My stonewashed Thermite is better than my Blackwashed version. Nice knives that work and you can replace easy.

You can't stop at just one my friend, it just keeps building and building. I was thinking of getting the Kershaw Cryo myself, but I never did buy it. I have the Persistence, and it's bigger brother, the Tenacious. They're both solid built knives and they perform well too.

Thermite gives you a lot of knife for the price. Well built too. Both were decent choices, though far from the <3oz. You stated you were looking for.

I recieved the Cryo finally. Still waiting on the thermite...

The cryo feels like a super tank small edc knife. You could literally run over it with your F150 pick up truck. Its needs a bit of care out of the box though. I had to file down some rough edges in some places and also oiled the pivot which was gritty in the beginning. I now really like the knife, I have large hands and can still get a 4 finger purchase on the handle which is surprising. It is a little heavy still, would be nice at 2.5oz if it was skeletonized, but that's asking too much at this price.

Cryo feels like a real edc user.

I cant wait to try the thermite when it arrives.

I think the Ambitious is a good knife for the price - I have one. But the Ontario Rat 2 - as others have suggested - also comes in under 3 oz and for an EDC I think it is hard to beat in that price range.

That's the kind of varied quality I expect from inexpensive China Kershaws. My last Cryo G10 is super slick and fast with such a powerful snap it feels like it might fly out of my hand. The Cryo came smooth and dehorned to perfection. You might find the Thermite is not as tough since it is a lot longer knife. If you try to flex it you will hear a few creaks. Sometimes it is hard to adjust the blade play out of them and keep the action fast, but they are great for the price. My Thermites also could use some sharp edges around the lock bar smoothed.

I also had to dehorn a Benchmade Contego, and a few Spyder Holes though.
