Don't let the lack of "slicing" ability of some of the thicker knives deter you.
They will cut what ever you need to be cut while on duty. You won't make the best apple slices, but you can cut seat belts, zip ties, cut a hole in the dry wall, pry wood panneling and car panels apart with no concern with those thicker models.
I EDC'ed a .22 Game Warden for a few years. I convex the edge, and it was plenty good at cutting and slicing, and heavy enough for prying and forcing things open.
Taking the edge a bit thinner and moving the shoulder up a bit (especially a nice convex edge with a higher shoulder) can make a huge difference.
I would not use my BAD for prying, without expecting to loose a good bit of the tip.
I also would not use my CABS for heavy prying at all. I bought both of them as slicers!
I have to admit, I had a SS (pretty thin, and a great slicer) that I pried wood with a bit just to be naughty. No problem. So in an emergency situation I would pry with the CABS and I bet it would do better than I am giving credit for no question ( I know the steel is tough, I just would hate to ruin anything).
If I did not post it earlier, welcome to our forum. Don't worry about people giving you a hard time on here. It is pretty standard. Things can be a bit "locker roomish" on here, and often the humor in a post is missed, because when people are reading, they can't read the poster's mind or see the smile and tongue in cheek.
In my neck of the woods Police are exempt from most general fire arm carry rules (concealed carry, switch blades, etc).
