EDC philosophy explained.

Look. I mean this was too good not to post.

LOL!!! That was an 8 1/2 minute truth bomb. Unfortunately i am guilty of looking for the latest greatest edc do it all tactical pocket jewelry boy toy in the past. Finally got tired of trying to keep up with the jones' all in the name of be prepared for any and all situations. I live in rual Oklahoma. I carry a small knife, a wallet and a couple tools that i actually use on a daily basis as a diesel mechanic/ career tech teacher. After all the time lost diving into the edc trap i looked back to what my grandfather carried. He had his little pocket knife, a pair of pliers, a wallet, and a handkerchief. That is all he needed to get through life as a farmer in Western Oklahoma. He survived the great depression and world war 2. He faced things that these edc gurus will never see. If what little he carried got him through life for all those years, then it is more than enough for me.

I don’t believe in being underprepared just because that’s how they did it in the past and I don’t believe in being over prepared requiring a backpack to tote it all around. My carry has to fit in my pockets and a little on my belt. That covers a lot of ground and doesn’t weigh a ton. Everyone has to do what makes them comfortable.

Carry what works for you where you live. I agree with you. I only carry what i need on a daily basis. Its not alot but it works for me and fits in my pockets. I carry pliers on my belt. I am prepared for my daily life in the place i live. For someone else it may mean carrying more and different items to get them through life.
