When I really got into modern folders I made the usual purchases. I went from carrying Kershaws for years to a Griptilian. Then a Delica, Mini Grip, Endura, Military, PM2, 940 etc. The modern classics.

As time went on I moved on to more exotic offerings. Mcustas, Microtechs, Protechs, Bokers, ZT, Lionsteel, CRK, etc. Greener pastures if you will.

I never managed to track down THE knife. They were all fine of course, but nothing was captivating enough to stick around for all that long.

I made a funny observation today. I noticed that my EDC Rotation has cycled back around to the classics. A Delica, an Endura, a PM2, a Mini Grip and a 940. I guess there's a reason we all recommend them to newbies.

Anybody else find themselves coming back to the classics again and again?

I've been carrying an Endura almost exclusively for a while now. I've owned everything between a SAK and Rocksteads, but an Endura in ZDP is just so knifey and slicey. It's darn near perfect.
I agree. You're much better off with an Endura than a Rockstead... Want to trade?

I regretfully traded my Endura 4 and Tenacious for a set of ZT0562 ti hardware.

My very first knife was a SAK...spent a lot of time with other folders. Especially Emersons. Now I'm back to carrying a Victorinox Pioneer with alox scales. I guess we all come full circle.

I'm just now moving in to the classics. I've had a Grip and Mini Grip for a few weeks. Traded the Grip, and now have a 943 and Spyderco DF 2 Salt on the way. I'm afraid the DF is going to be a gateway drug to the Spyder Hole and I'll get hooked, I'm brave though:D. We'll see if I get into the higher end stuff at some point.

I find the hole is best appreciated when flicked, can't seem to flick the hole on such a small knife.

I know exactly what you mean. I go back to the Delica (mostly), Dragonfly, Native, and BM Mini Grip. Although I like the PM2 and Endure, they are too big for my purposes.

I am kind of new to knives. And I have purchased several ones in the last year. But somehow my blurple pm2 is the one that ends up in my pocket most of the time.
I will trade or sell some of them in the future but I don't think I'll ever let go of the pm2.

I've been carrying my Large Inkosi nonstop lately. I got it for myself for my birthday and promised myself I would EDC the heck out of it.

However overall my Cqc7 probably gets the most pocket time.

I've had a few Byrd Spydies and a BM 550HG and for the life of me I couldn't flick them open. I can't get the mechanics of the middle finger flick mastered.

Me neither, I use my index finger :D
Seems to work better on larger, heavier blades. PM2 and Tenacious come to mind.

Need more practice. You will find that middle finger flipping requires much less wrist action than thumb flipping (I guess the middle finger is longer?).

literally the only folders I own right now are, Military M4, Delica in Zdp–189, 940-1501.

The military sadly sees the least amount of carry. Just don't need the length. I can never seem to stay away from them though. This is probably the eighth one I've had, just such a great design.

Not since I received my CPK EDC...
My "Rotation" is now mostly my traditional secondaries. Though that is also fairly static now, a GEC 14 (single blade spear in Ebony).

I still have my other knives, and they aren't slouches, ZT 770cfM4, large 21 seb, Winchester Sowbelly (carbon blades, bone slabs), 80+ y.o. half whittler, some JK customs, et al.

But due to my current combination being so friendly to John Q. Public, or absolutely reliable and capable (depending on which I use, or what is needed), I don't often carry anything other than my two newest knives, the EDC and the 14.

I always use my thumb, and I never use my wrist (though I rarely flick a knife open, this is how I do it).

By applying pressure at about 1 o'clock (right handed) with the thumb, you can press as hard as you want, but it won't open.

Once there is a bit of pressure built, you just slide the pressure to the 11 o'clock position, the blade will pop out. By doing this I can even flick my Large 21 sebenza, and those are rather hard (and not suggested) to flick open.

If the blade doesn't open fully, just add more pressure prior to rolling the pressure over to the 10-11 o'clock position.
