EDC Rotation

There are too many places on my commute where if my knife fell out of my pocket it would be gone forever so I mostly carry knives $50 or less.

Currently I rotate between a Buck 503 prince, a gec coyote and a pearl pen knife from the early 1900s who's make escapes me right now.

On days where I'm not going into the city I carry the higher end stuff without issue. Mostly custom fixed blades and traditional folders.

Need more practice. You will find that middle finger flipping requires much less wrist action than thumb flipping (I guess the middle finger is longer?).
Er.... I don't thumb flip my Spydies? Well, only my Techno.

I use my index finger! :D

I have a decent collection of modern folders and traditionals, but I find myself only carrying Swiss army knives.
As for going back to the classics, I've been routinely carrying the Wenger Standard issue I bought when I was 10.

I keep going back to the PM2. Snagged a m390 a while back, put on carbon fiber scales and a ti clip. It's top 3 in my EDC.

My EDC rotation changed drastically after I recently purchased a new car. For years I carried my knives clipped in my right rear pocket. It was less conspicuous and separated knife from delicate phone screen. This was a-OK because late-90's Pontiac Grand Prix "leather" seats (and the rest of the interior for that matter) are not actually leather but some kind of indestructible vinyl faux-leather. I had a wide-ranging rotation of knives, including two Enduras (superblue and hap-40), a ZT 0456, a Benchmade 477-1, and an Mcusta MC-2. Those were great times.

Then I "upgraded" to my new car which has actual from-a-cow leather that knife clips scratch the piss out of. My EDC knives now have to contend with my car keys in my front left pocket, and only a few have survived the transition. My rotation now is primarily my Endura superblue sans clip, my BM 477-1, and a Protech Magic Br-1. Car keys are vicious on knives, so unless my new car isn't involved that day my EDC is one of those three.

Try something like a Bianchi Accumold 7405K Belt Keeper (providing it fits with your attire). Properly configured that can keep your keys away from other pocket contents. Disclaimer: I carry traditional slipjoints, so all I have to do is keep my keys from sliding down to the bottom of my pocket where the knife resides. Otherwise the keys can slip into my pocket where they won't rattle, swing around, and catch on things. Sorry if this is drifting off topic...

I know i do, im on my 3rd go around with the same models. I think i finally covinced myself just to keep my go to's (still try new stuff here and there of course).

Spyderco pm2, dragonfly 2
BM mini grip(556)
Zt0450cf
And the zt0452 and millie are runner ups. They tend to not get carried as much as the others for some reason. Blade size/pocket space maybe? Still trying to figure myself out :)

Trying out a Hinderer Xm-18 and ZT 0562. Also a mini grip and Case pocket knife.

Thanks for the suggestion, I wish I had known of something similar a few years ago. Once upon a time I used to carry my keys on a carabiner, but my current "business professional" work attire prevents this kind of solution.

I'm trying to walk that line of a non-traditional (no judgement, just not my style) but not overly "tactical" and "scary". Combined with my self-imposed no pocket clip requirement, it's been a bit of a challenge finding my new go-to EDC knife. I've kind of resigned myself to something that can hold its own against my keys, mostly because its preferable to my phone screen taking a beating.

I too carry in my rear pocket and have a peeled cow interior. I've just gotten in the habit of pulling my knife out of my pocket when I get in the car. This also allows you to fidget with the knife while driving. Safety first!

Out of the 10 current edc folders that I own, 6 would be considered classics. I would like to think my GBs were classics but they haven't achieved the success of the true classics mentioned.

I could easily edc today the first high level folders that I carried for several years, the Endura with zdp and the Griptilian with 154cm. Slicey Endura and sturdy Griptilian. While I still use these occasionally, I more often use the PM2 for slicey and the Amercan Lawman for sturdy these days. Still basic classics, but perhaps a step up from the first two. I have one or two of several of the most expensive knife brands most often discussed on the forums, but I seem to like the basic classics better for edc.

I haven't been into knives long enough to have "gone back" to the modern classics, but I do own and have been carrying several regularly since I've acquired them this summer. My Benchmade 940, Spyderco Military in S110V, and ZT 0452CF have all been pocket favourites over the last 3 months or so, particularly the millie and the 0452 as they've been awesome work knives for me!

Other knives come and go, but Spyderco absolutely dominates my pocket with the classics. This seems to be a theme in this tread.

.
As time went on I moved on to more exotic offerings. Mcustas, Microtechs, Protechs, Bokers, ZT, Lionsteel, CRK, etc. Greener pastures if you will.

^^^My present phase of interest, but I still rotate the classics through.

My Spyderco Native and Dragonfly have ended up being carried at least occassionally since I got them. Wasn't a fan of Spyderco's knives, mainly because of the added blade height from the holes, but the Dragonfly changed my opinion somewhat. Enough so that I'm finally giving the PM2 a try soon.

I've only had most of the knives I have now for a year or less, so I'll have to wait and see which of the classics I get drawn back too as the years go by. I can certainly see my Native keeping a spot for the foreseeable future.

I love the natives size, I just can't flick it and it's a backlock so I tend to not carry it. It's a little thick too. I've been going to my Delica alot, though now that you brought it up maybe I'll take my PM2 tomorrow.

The only classic I carry at work is an Endura. I usually roll heavy while at work with either a Benchmade Adamas, or a ZT0909. Weekend carry is a ZT 0566.
