EDC to complement my Glock 29

SOG Flash II plain edge, has a pretty nondescript and super-low carry clip and aesthetically complements the Glock polymer in my view

There are several member knife makers who make great small fixed blades. Jason Wilder and Elo147 come to mind. Matt Bailey makes absolutely stunning pocket fixed blades as well. If you are open to the idea of a fixed blade I would strongly suggest you check out their work and others.

The 29 is a purely defensive weapon. I consider the folding knife as a utility tool.
I think that the Millie is pretty large and a 4" blade is only necessary if you want it.
IMO, which is not worth a lot, a three-inch Spyderco Sage 2, Caly 3 or Caly 3.5 would be my first choice.
And perhaps, to be more in touch with your son...a Paramilitary 2. A standard model in S30v is an excellent choice.
best regards,

Hard for me to pick just one EDC, but for a bigger blade (over 3") I'd go Spyderco Paramilitary 2.

I consider the Spyderco PM2 to be the Glock 19 of the knife world. Extending that, I think the Military would be analogous to the Glock 29.

Take a look at the Spyderco Sage 3 carbon fiber and the Caly3 Carbon Fiber.

For a fixed blade you can carry in your front pocket I would get an Ezee Izula, in black (to match your gun).

Fixed blade for edc--ESEE Izula
Folder--Paramilitary 2, Manix 2.

For when you're out hunting, an ESEE 5 is nice knife to belt carry.

I regularly edc a glock 26 and a military or pm2. I think the pm2 is a great edc companion to a compact pistol. Gun for SD, knife for cutting things. Pm2 is so nice and lite. Only 2 real issues with it. Tip is very thin. As long as you realize this and dont do any non knife things with it you should be fine. Also, doesn't come with deep carry clip. This can be easily remedied by several after market options. My favorite is the deep carry Ti clips from forum member theorigionalspaceman. Bang for the buck is incredible. Great clips for many spidies.

What is it with gun guys always wanting huge knives to go along with their "ultimate stopping power" glocks? If your carrying a gun like that, you don't need a large knife to go along with it..... Just grab a small utility blade and it'll do everything you said you needed it to. I'm thinking a sage, native5, or PM2 at the largest. It wouldn't make sense to carry a huge knife unless that was your only means of last-resort defense, which it's not because you have the glock.....like craytab said," gun for SD, knife for cutting things."

A small knife will also work just as well for skinning deer, if not better than a huge and cumbersome military. You know, for when you take it down with your 6 in barrel 10mm Golck 29. But I'll stop there. I don't even wanna get into that part:rolleyes:

Just go to kershawguy.com and check out the Kershaw Blur. Get it in almost any blade style that strikes your fancy and at a very good price.

You completely contradict yourself here. You quote me, a gun guy, recommending a pm2. I guess all of us gun guys don't "always" like huge knives to go with our glocks. Statements like "always" generally aren't always true and should be avoided (see what I did there).

Seriously though, the difference between the Military's 4" blade and the PM2's 3.5" blade was not worth your condescending post.

Either would be fine for general EDC. Maybe not so much for skinning deer. Too pointy and not big enough belly for my taste. Also the innards would get mucky. I would prefer a small fixed blade for that.

Im not sure where the thread went but I carry a Glock 19/30, XDm .45 and my top picks for carry are BM940/943, and Endura/Pacific Salt. Ill carry a bunch others in my collection but those are the friendliest for me with my handgun options.

I want a EDC to complement my Glock 29 in 10mm. The Glock 29 is a compact autoloader.

I do not care if it is a folder or a fixed blade but I do want total quality. I was thinking of getting a Spyderco Military and still may but would like to hear other suggestions. I like my son's Spyderco Military so it does have a little bit of favor in my eyes.

It will be used for standard daily use. Stuff like opening box's at work, opening letters, getting out splinters, cleaning my fingernails, cleaning fish if I forget my belt knife at home and standard around the house stuff.

I would like for it to be concealed so fix blade may not be a good idea unless its like my KA-Bar Neck Knife that can be put in my billfold or front pocket.

My Glock is for pure knock down power as it is as powerful as a .41 mag which is a great hunting round.

I EDC CC a Glock 29. I normally carry a Microtech SOCOM Delta, occasionally a DOC. I'd side on the lighter knives because more that likely you'll be carrying the two on the same side of your pants (and the 29 isn't exactly a light carry gun)
In the woods I use a Winkler Hunter's and/or my Junglas

For those who don't know, the G29 is a beefy and powerful handgun (not to mention pretty unpleasant to fire), a knife to match it should be the same. I think a big, overbuilt folder like a ZT or Emerson fits best. Maybe something like a Blackwash 0566? The black frame and G10 would complement the Tennifer nicely.

Ok, I was a bit condescending. Sorry bout that. But what I meant about the military was that the overall length was a bit much if you wanted a knife for skinning. IMO, its too big to edc period. And yes I used a broad generalization, but my point was that most of the gun guys I know carry huge and/or overbuilt knives for some reason that I cannot fathom. If you have a primary defensive tool (your glock), then you can carry however small a knife you want, because its purely for utility purposes. Thats how I look at it anyway.

And Im sorry if I offended you TheJeepster, but I just find the concept of hunting with a glock pretty hilarious. But obviously you have prepared for criticism, seeing as how you jumped on that part of my post specifically and earlier how you felt the need to mention multiple times the power equivalency of the 10mm round....
