FRIDAY!!!!!

David...

Come on man!!! You can't post a picture like that without telling us what those fine specimens are:);)

Sorry brother - my bad :)

The flipper is by Vaclav MacWasil - a Czech maker. Ladder damascus pattern with Box Elder Burl scales, titanium anodized liner and clip (even has a stand-off attached to the clip with the damascus pattern).

The fixed is a great little piece (3 inch cutting edge) in 3V from Drew at DCL knives - very nice thin stock and has a great ergonomics to it - especially for a smaller piece.

Now that you've refreshed my memory about Drew, I recognize his work. That young dude makes some great looking knives!

Vaclav, is new to me though. The selection of materials really stands out. The burl and damascus pair together very well:thumbup:

As always, great knives Brother!

Man, Drew is kicking some serious butt lately. That's one nice DCL!

Thanks Blues and AntDog. I happened to catch a random post of a very similar piece Vaclav did about a month ago, contacted him about making me one and he was absolutely awesome to deal with. The scales are some of the nicest I've seen - polished to a fantastic glossy finish. The action is pretty good (I'm so spoiled by Thorburn :P) and the Damascus really pops. Definitely a happy camper with this one. As for the other, I've been searching for a nice fixed sheepfoot and Drew provided it - awesome work!

So is it bad that I noticed that math before the knife? Thanks for reminding me I'm still a nerd at heart ;) :D

Haha! A convergence test if I'm not mistaken:)

I had my fair share of numbers and Greek letters a few years ago. Just don't ask me for help anymore:p

Been running around all over the city getting ready for being gone all of next week from work, so I had to carry a little lighter today than I wanted to ;)

I'll be taking some very fun knives with me on vacation at the lake though so there should be lots of good pics both here and on my IG for the vacation!

And once I get back there will be one VERY special knife waiting for me, but I don't want to spoil the surprise just yet ;) :D
Hope everyone has some good plans for this weekend, even if it's just hanging out!!!!

I'm pretty sure you're right! I was never too big into engineering and logarithmic math. My "nerd zone" was always theoretical physics! I could talk for hours about special relativity and quantum dynamics...but there aren't that many people who keep up in that conversation lately :( ;)

That's awesome! I majored in mathematics a while ago, but now do construction lol:D Theoretical mathematics was my interest.

It was funny, I'd come to class wearing ripped up jeans and "pink floyd/zeppelin/hendrix" t-shirt's, so nobody took me seriously:D One day, I wrote the mathematical constant "e" rounded to 50+ digits on the white board in front of a class of 30+ people, and suddenly everyone started asking me for math help!:D

I need to bust out that old topology book soon:p

Sometimes we don't look like people might expect us nerds to do we? ;)
I was a 250lb lineman on the varsity team in high school and was already through AP Physics by 2nd semester junior year. Had several people who thought I was cheating based one what I looked like throughout high school and even a little bit in college. Not fun, but it makes for a good story now ;)

Failed Calulus though the first time I took it. Go figure, right? That's when I figured out I don't do well with purely memorization when it comes to math. I have to be able to understand the theory and logic behind equations an functions before I could really use them properly.
4 calculus theory books and about a semester later, and I aced the course :D

Haha, thanks! It's all about technique...

Sharpening is 1% equipment and 99% technique. Often times, I'll use materials laying around the job site to realign my edge (ie. Copper pipe, conduit, dirty 2x4's, tiles, screwdrivers, broken glass, etc):D

Yea, I sharpen free hand with Arkansas stones, or ceramic stones. I can get some pretty good edges myself. I just usually don't finish with a strop. Mostly because I don't have one.

You know you can use the edge of a car window too.
