Haha, thanks! It's all about technique...

Sharpening is 1% equipment and 99% technique. Often times, I'll use materials laying around the job site to realign my edge (ie. Copper pipe, conduit, dirty 2x4's, tiles, screwdrivers, broken glass, etc):D

I think it's more like 2% equipment, 40% technique, and 58% consistency:)

Haha!!! :D

Sometimes we don't look like people might expect us nerds to do we? ;)
I was a 250lb lineman on the varsity team in high school and was already through AP Physics by 2nd semester junior year. Had several people who thought I was cheating based one what I looked like throughout high school and even a little bit in college. Not fun, but it makes for a good story now ;)

Failed Calulus though the first time I took it. Go figure, right? That's when I figured out I don't do well with purely memorization when it comes to math. I have to be able to understand the theory and logic behind equations an functions before I could really use them properly.
4 calculus theory books and about a semester later, and I aced the course :D

Haha, that's awesome!

Guess what... I dropped out of high school late freshman year! I started college by taking trig:eek: Got an A in that course too;)

Yea, I sharpen free hand with Arkansas stones, or ceramic stones. I can get some pretty good edges myself. I just usually don't finish with a strop. Mostly because I don't have one.

You know you can use the edge of a car window too.

I would highly, highly, highly recomend a strop! Especially one made of balsa wood. It will take your sharpness a small step further:thumbup:

Yes, a car window works too! You know what also works? The spine of another knife:D:p

Consistency comes with technique;)

Carried a couple that don't get out very often.

All this stuff about college is making my head hurt. I'm still trying to figure out what my program of study is going to be. I'm 25 and going into my second year. So far I have gone through a degree in cullinary, then business mgmt(strictly because it looks good on any resume. I have zero desire to manage anyone for a living), and now I'm thinking about horticulture specialist since I have always loved working outside.
I'm about at the point of just picking one and rolling with it.

Technique is definitely important. I've seen people get a sharp knife with a brick.

I don't even use a strop and can get some pretty wicked edges. If I were to use a strop it would he a balsa one though.

It's very overcast today, so the light is crappy.
Today I'm sportin' the Emerson CSF, the 'Zaan, and the Sod Buster.
