I'll be looking into that brand. The lum tecs I was looking at seemed to run around 5, so the price of the Laco looks better. That is definitely the style I'm after. But my first order of business is getting my first decent pair of boots. That's one rabbit hole I've just started to spiral down. I keep going back and forth over some Red Wings.

Red Wings, eh? I say get em'...

They are definitely not cheap though, especially if you're looking for waterproof. I will say, they take a little while to break in, so they will be a little uncomfortable for a week or so. I ended up needing orthotic inserts, since my feet would be killin' me after a couple hours. That adds another $60 to the boots, so be warned!

Edit: Carolinas are also another decent type of boots, not US made though. Around here (IL), you can find them at Ace Hardware.

I've always wanted a pair of Red Wings, but the price always makes me cringe. And, Im waiting for my Wolverine boots to kick the dust. I have a pair of Merrell "chukka" style boots that are real comfortable too that are very under rated.

Speaking of which, today..

Another day spent in the books preparing for boards! Luckily I have my trusty sebenza with me to keep me company

I'd like to add that Wolverine boots also take forever to break in, although they're on the cheaper end. I've been abusing a pair of Wolverine boots for over a year now with no issues though.
Native 5 again today.

Have a look at Danner boots, made in US models are solid. If you wanna go a step further check out WESCO boots. Phenomenal boots. You can either order your size or have them custom made to your individual foot measurements. Once you go that route it's tough to by crap boots again. Good luck
