I have always found it extremely funny when people say thay cant carry a knife over a certain amount of ounces. I carry anything from a benchmade Adamas, to a spyderco delica 4, and honestly, I dont ever notice the weight difference. Is weight really that big of a difference to everyone here?

"Edc weight really that big of an issue?" "I don't ever notice the weight difference". Sounds like you answered your own question :D

*edit*
But to answer your question, since I'm one of thoes funny people who won't consider knives over a certain weight-

I work on a farm and am always constantly moving and get heated out of jeans too quickly. Due to this I choose to wear athletic/running shorts every day above 35-40 degrees. (8-9/12 months of the year) In this time I have found that 5oz is definitely on the heavy side for me. 4oz seems to be the perfect weight for the majority of my shorts with out pulling them down. Therefore weight plays a huge factor for me. I Need: 1. A full size knife that can take the abuse of farm/agriculture chores and 2. Need it to not pull my shorts down when I'm moving fast (All day everyday until I put jeans on for the winter(which by that time I usually don't need a full size knife anymore anyways)) Luckily Iv found 2 knives that fit the bill perfectly :D

As soon as I put jeans on I don't care nearly as much. I'll start wearing a fixed blade as well as a large and small folder. Hell, some of the knives I own are so light now I can wear a large and small on my ath shorts. :D

*edit 2*

It actually makes me really sad jeans are too hot to wear 80% of the year because Id like to wear a belt for a few things including a good 4"+ fixed blade for EDC. Would be much nicer for the farm over a 3.5" folder. I'm actually thinking about getting a thick leather gunslinger styled belt that will just sit on my waist for this upcoming season. Will I look like a fool? Possibly. Do I care? Ill be able to carry 2 sets of pruners in a double holster, my leatherman wave, and a Lg fixed blade making my job easier while not getting heated out of jeans.

I think a lot of it depends on your carry method. I pocket carry with clips, almost always, and I wear jeans and Dockers more often than I wear slacks or dress pants.

I love my ZT 0909 and at over 7 oz, it carries quite well and easily for me when I'm wearing jeans, but on those occasions that I wear slacks or dress pants, I want something lighter.

For those who use belt pouches, I imagine weight is even less of an issue!

Not to me either, Only when I carry a really heavy traditional knife did I notice. It is nice for a knife to just kind of disappear in your pocket but extra weight has never bothered me!

depending on what I'm wearing I vary my edc
If I'm wearing shorts I won't carry anything heavy
But if I'm wearing jeans I don't really care

Blues is kind of a small guy...now...

I have limited my EDC's to five ounces. That gives me a Zaan or large Sebbie as a max weight, and I haven't needed more knife than that. Some of my ZT's were over that, of course, but I got rid of them. Pry-bars need not apply.

I always wear slacks, only knife that I've noticed being too heavy to carry in a pocket is the BM 62

Not at all. If I like a knife, I'm not going to let the weight turn me off.

I had my 0550 the other day and switched it out to my Native 5 at work. No biggie.

It really depends on what type of pants you have to wear to work.

+1. In jeans, I have heavy folders that front pocket great and light ones that aren't so good. Roles might be reversed if I'm wearing cargo shorts. Contour, texture, and clip/cary depth play a big role.

I think it depends on what you do majority of the day. I'm in an office, so I normally wear dress pants or jeans. Weight and size is definitely a concern for me when choosing knives. I prefer there to be no buldge or discomfort when in my pants. Have to carry cell phone, keys and slim wallet in the front pockets, so knife has to fit well. I've had larger EDCs before, but they were rarely carried. If I need a big knife, I'll use one.

The only time it ever mattered is if I'm wearing something like elastic waist running pants or shorts. Usually have a Vic Explorer and it being heavy it'll want to pull athletic pants down. In jeans and such, doesn't matter.
Haven't carried that Vic for awhile and I don't move any faster with the lighter knives.

This.

I am finding that my Benchmade 531 is getting carried more and more. Coming in at about 2 oz. it is the lightest knife I own.

Weight matters a lot to me.

One, because I carry in my back pocket and heavy often means thick. Don't want to sit on a brick.

Two, because I have no ass at all. None. Got a backside like a 2x4. Which means my pants are held up by friction alone. More weight requires more tension on the belt. To carry an Adamas I'd look like a sausage link pinched in the middle.

I agree with this and I wear shorts a lot when not at work and no blades allowed at my workplace. I also pay attention to how wide the knife is overall...some are just to wide to carry wearing shorts and other things like keys, phone etc.

Substitute can't with won't.

Its a matter of preference. Some of us like the NFL, some not. Thin crust or thick? Kate Upton or Alessandra Ambrosio? Pocket 9mm or SIG P320 on the belt? This doesn't mean the one cannot go one way or the other, but we all have preferences.

The fact the that not everyone's choices align with yours is not funny. It just means that God gave us volition and free will. This world would not be very fun if everyone was exactly like Tyler.

I have spoken.

Weight in pocket can matter depending on clothing. Weight and balance in hand will affect how it feels during use.
