EDC - What did your knife do today???

The first foal of the season (photos on page 3 of this thread) was slow in coming and I used my knife to cut open the birth sack to allow the foal to get a breath. This little filly was an easy birth even though it was her Mama's first foal.

This one is something for balance though. She litterally sprung to her feet within minutes of being born, wobbled a little bit then starting practically running around the stall. Another couple of minute and she found her food (as shown in this video).

Helped with dinner :D

I spent today at a boy scout camp with other members of my SAR unit, doing a service project to pay for using the camp for our basic training during the winter. We were staining and painting the trim on a bunch of buildings. I was mostly doing prep work: removing drain pipes and stuff from the walls, covering windows and doors with masking plastic sheet, and so on. My Victorinox Spirit and an ESEE Izula got a lot of work (The Izula no longer looks new. Yay!), but when I needed more blade, out came the Spyderco Barong. Good knife day, and the first day of decent weather in a couple of months.

On the cop today i was in the kitchen and saw a mouse stuck on one of those traps that is glue on a sheet of paper. Being the softie that i am i took it outside and spent about 10 minutes cutting it free, the entire time the little guy who is little bigger than my thumb is bitting the heck out of me (luckily i had a nomex glove on the hand i was using to hold him) so finally i got him free and then unstuck his legs from the rest of his body and he just kind of skittered off under some c-wire. I hope that there isnt any permenant damage and that he doesnt somehow re-stick his limbs to his torso (maybe he can lick himself clean?) Poor little guy lost alot of fur and he was bleding from his nose (even his head was stuck to the trap).

The knife i used was a kabar made becker necker that i keep on my belt everyday.

It took me more than 20 minutes to clean the blade and it has little nicks from the rocks and sand that were also stuck in the glue.

It seems to me like alot of knife people are also big on animals.

The original shot was an advertising promo that I 'borrowed'. The original was on a white background with the 'drop shadow'. Because I use Linux, my image manipulation program is known as Gimp, but it is very similar to PS.

The process of adding a 'seamless' image to my sig was quite simple. Using the 'magic' wand selection tool, click on the original white background. Next, change your foreground color to the HTML notation F5F5FF, which will give you the exact color of the Blade Forums background. Finally, do a 'bucket fill' in the previously selected white area.

And yes, A.L., wherever possible I go with a white background so I can drop the image anywhere. I have become such a lazy sod in my old age. ;)

Thanks. I just thought if you had any easier way around, because we used green/blue backgrounds in school million years ago-- wich was really handy way to shoot products without doind wand magic afterwards when we wanted different background. For instance, we could also shoot cigarette smoke with that technique and not hassle with photoshop at all.

Sorry for going offtopic guys!

My Benchmade MPR opened up some candy, mail, cut some tags on my clothes and was fondled by me for a good hour :)

My GEC #25 buffalo horn Barlow cut through some stubborn 3M adhesive strips at work. At home, my Vic Spirit scissors cut some zipties. Yawn.

Today I weedeated my yard and cleaned my very filled gutters (gutters is last on my list). I used my Spyderco Tenacious to help open the spindle to get more string out of the weedeater. I also used my Fox 691 Kabar (I dont EDC this though) to break up the junk stuck in my gutters so I could scoop it out.

I finally had it with my stupid cordless phone and wasted it with a katana after buying a new one. Half the time people would be talking and breaking up like a bad cell phone connection. One shot on phone and another on the base unit. The chopping black was so close to the ground that only 2/3 sliced and the remainder just broke. Here it is kind of assembled again.

No animals were harmed in filming this. :)

Mine, stripped a lot of nm sheath, cut open a chip bag, cleaned my finger nails, opened recessed can boxes and cut some carpet to protect some wood flooring

And somehow ended up stabbed into a 2x4...

P.S.

Just tightened a screw on a hinge of a cuboard in the kitchen...all better now.
