EDC - What's in Your Pocket(s)??

My EDC has changed a lot. I went from tacticals like a BM Ares or an Endura 4 to slipjoints as my main city knife. I've fallen in love with the traditional patterns and find them quite useful.

I still carry a tactical folder from time to time, but mostly as a back up when I can't carry a fixed blade.

Today I have a Charles May FireAnt (scandi ground!), a marvellous pocket fixed blade. A Case Sodbuster and a Victorinox Forester.

Today I have a Charles May FireAnt (scandi ground!) . . .

How does the FireAnt compare in weight to some of your other knives? For example, you mentioned you are carrying the vic forester. How does the FireAnt compare in weight to that knife?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Andy

Dalton SOB II and Meerkat Spydie every day. I bought a makora ecec. to carry, but now I find out they are known to not always retract as they should. Maybe just one for the collection, or maybe i'll sell it for one that can do what it is supposed to......

Nice

How well does it work? Do you have any shots with the blade open?

thanks.

the wave on the manix works fairly well-- it works better in the back pocket of my jeans (and maybe this can be chalked up to my opening style). as expected, opening isn't *quite* as smooth and snappy as it is with emersons-- and that's because the lockback provides more pressure on the blade tang, as opposed to the lateral pressure involved with emerson linerlocks. regardless, this thing snaps open when i draw it, so no complaints.

i'll take some open-blade pics tonight.

Today its a BM 710, Fallkniven U2 and a Hideaway Utility.

As always the Atwood Prybaby and Tactical Whistle on the keychain

While the FireAnt is hefty for its size (it's quite thick) it doesn't seem to be heavier than the Vic Forester, it might weight a bit more than an Endura 4. I find it perfecly OK for a pocket fixed blade.

I don't have a scale, so I just compared the knives in a very un-scientific way.
