I really do like this topic! I've put my BM Rukus to rest for a bit while I carry my newest acquisition, a tactical auto from Chris English, aka Z Knives. A very sweet piece of work.:thumbup:

I wonder if UnknownVT had any idea that this little (gargantuan) thread that he started all those years ago on 03-16-2003 at 02:34 in the afternoon would ever become the universal bladeforums pocket dumping ground for who knows how many people's gadgets and goodies.

please can you show me this perrin folder i am very curious
is it a friction folder ?

arzh

If this is what I think it is, it's the Perrin tri-folder. Of course if it isn't shame on me. I'm expecting one on Monday :D here it is on EDCKnives.

It seems we never tire of hearing what other folks carry around with them every day. I know I don't. As for me, I just picked up a Spyderdo Delica last week. My first Spyderco. It has become my EDC for now. It has a solid feel to it and a very smooth action.

And if it played music I'd say it was easy to dance to!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

i am currently carrying a BM 710D2. i usually carry 1 of 3 griptilians but all are currently being sharpened. when they return, the 710 will go back in the closet. i also have a spyderco goddard on the way i am looking fwd to putting to use as well. ;)

Got a new BM Ruckus coming tomorrow. I'll have a custom made "friction" sheath made for it, just like I did my Manix. Gives me different carry options. Going to have other sheaths made of the same style for a few of my other large folders that I carry frequently. My Spyderco Military is one that comes to mind.

Cheers

I wonder that very same thing every time I see a new post to this thread.

Hmmmm... well let's see, I'm carrying three knives at the moment;

1. Victorinox "Camping" SAK on my keychain;

2. Buck locking marlin spike folder on a "D" carabiner on my belt;

3. CS "Spike" tanto necker

Yes, and definitely NO!

OK, here's the obvious contradiction -

I was a long time participant at rec.knives usenet newsgroup (still going strong) -
there was a thread about what's in your pockets -
which was popular for the normal duration/life of a thread on a newsgroup.

So I kind of knew it would be a popular thread -
at least for the normal life of a thread (a couple of weeks average).

Then, NO, never in my wildest imagining that this would become such a long standing gigantic thread.

Let me state the very obvious -
the beauty of threads is that no one person gets the credit -
it is thanks to the participation of forum members that makes it -
it is pretty obvious to me there is no way I could have made 2,450 posts and still made it interesting -

Simply, due to everyone's participation has kept this thread fresh and interesting.......

You sound like you don't even know what a bong is :P

A bong is generally much larger and has physical properties to accomodate the presence of water used to filter smoke.

I know this is a old post but I would like to clarify for no particular reason that although bong water may filter smoke slightly its main purpose it to cools it off...:D

Now lest see, EDC's....It varies so much from day to day, but Here are some thigns I have EVERY DAY...A zippo, 2 knives, big and small blade, a Victorinox Swiss card, wallet, and watch...

i carry my:
black meadowlark
surefire L1 lumamax
wallet
samsung t609
pen

i can't wait to get my mini skirmish!... ss harpy... yellow tasman salt... griffe... safe keeper... bm 42... and the list goes on...

Here is my new EDC Setup: I carry a Black Baby Boa on my keychain, a Boron Leek, a Grey Ti Bump, a Taurus 24/7 .40, my phone and wallet. Also a good belt...

My ZDP leek lost its spot to the Boron Leek, for aesthetic reasons, and the Ti Bump got the nod over my Spec Bump because its lighter, and more rare! :D

I try to stay economical and efficient. You dont have to break the bank (or law) to be prepared, and you dont have to pack around a pile of equipment. I am a rather robust 5'8-9" and none of my friends or family are even quasi-aware of the amount of gear I carry, even if I am wearing a t-shirt and shorts. I showed a close friend the other day because she asked after it came up in conversation, and she was shocked that she had never noticed a single thing. The only visible item is the Byrd (or other folder) clip on my right front pocket.

I usually have a spare P3AT mag in the flap of my pocket rig, but after some issues with my last mag, I need to buy another (loaded too long I think spring is shot).

I have the option of carrying a G19 with mag extensions, but I dont find much cause...if 16rds of Corbon 9mm +p 115gr and 14rds of .380 Corbon DPX cant get me to a safe place, I have failed my training, or I am screwed anyway.

I make it a goal to balance EDC vs. realistic threats. If worst case should occur (most likely the single threat, defense situation), I hope to only expend a single mag with the Kahr.

Carry orientation is as follows:

Cell, chapstick, and lighter - front left pocket.

Wallet - back left pocket. Pen fits inside.

P3AT (with +1 round ext for 8 total rds, 6 more rds once I get another backup mag)- back right pocket.

Keys and folder - front right pocket.

Light on belt - 8:30 position.

Mag on belt - 9:00 position.

Kahr on belt - 4:00 position.

CRKT on belt - 1:30 position.

Carries well, and all but invisible with an untucked shirt. I have under $1,000 in all my EDC gear. Care is taken not to show Kahr when crouching/bent, but other than that, no item is obvious, no matter my posture.

I currently wear no watch (I use my cell, as it has date w/ time in military format). That may change, but I like having no obstruction on my wrist (for weapon draw, hand-to-hand, snag point, etc). Cell has over 5 days of battery life with no usage.

For work scenarios (when law permits, I live in KY so the law is on my side! http://www.humandev.com/Dot_LatestN...?Dotidscroll=26 )), drop the CRKT, the light is changed to a Maglite Solitaire in the front left pocket, and drop the Kahr and mag (in the car, with the big guns)...(also the P3AT and mag if employer requires a gun free workplace)...everything else is completely hidden with a tucked shirt and proper fitting pants. I refuse to violate the laws in my jurisdiction as I view them as fair and within the confine of the consititution in respect to my rights of civil liberty and the rights of the employer to a safe workplace.
