orthodox 33 prayer rope- gift

The name for this in Greek is "komboshini" which actually means "rope with knots". There are 33 knots on it to symbolize the years Jesus Christ spent on Earth as human. I am amazed that you have this item, let alone that you carry it! I think that such an item should be extremely rare in North America. It is an exceptional EDC item though!

handmade orthodox cross- gift
theotokos ikon pendant from jerusalem-gift
orthodox 33 prayer rope- gift
russian orthodox ring from jerusalem- gift[/QUOTE]

Are we Orthodox ourselves, or just inspired by the gifts? I myself carry my prayer rope and an Icon on my keys (Peter and Paul in Bronze with an Orthodox cross on the reverse side). Just curious!

Wow, I haven't replied to this thread in over 2 years. Recently at work it's been:
1. Paramilitary (usually sits in the desk when I'm in my cube)
2. Victorinox Explorer Plus
3. Fisher Bullet pen
4. Chapstick
5. keys with Sandisk 512MB drive and Fenix P1.

I am Orthodox and very happy and proud about it! To tell you the truth, I was amazed to see on Bladeforums in a thread related to EDC chewbroccoli's, shall we say "arsenal"? I have a "komboshini" in one of my pockets, as well as, an Icon of Saint Anthony's and Saint Seraphym's of Sarof in my wallet and of course an Orthodox Cross around my neck. It was given to me by my now deceased Godfather the day I was baptized.

I was a bit surprised by chewbroccoli's myself, which is why I asked. I've known a few people who carried Orthodox items because it was more of a cultural thing than a religious conviction. I'm a convert, so I tend to have a bit of interest in such things. I have an Old Believer's cross that I used to wear, but I have to get a new chain for it. Its just nice to see a few fellow Orthodox who understand the need for good tools!

no pic included of the RAZR or my cheezy wallet.

My Away from Home and Air Travel EDCs haven't changed much since I last posted them.

However my at Home EDC changes relatively frequently in the flashlight area -
Home0611.jpg

the knife has remained the same - the Black "boron" Leek (link to review with some better attempts at pictures).

The flashlights are -

Fenix L1T (review link) - 1AA 2-level LED light using a T-bin LuxeonIII

Fenix L0P-SE Special (review link) a kind of a "special-special":D (SE= Special Edition) 1AAA 3-level LED light mod with a U-bin LuxeonIII.

to this already crowded picture I have added a CRKT Ichi (review link) manual opening version -
IchiEDC_Opn.jpg

For Air Travel I EDC a Victorinox Yeoman (standard red handles) packed in checked bag and carried after arriving at destination. Otherwise everything else (except for the CRKT Ichi) is the same as the Away from Home EDC.
