Alternate the Benchmade (don't know model) and the CRKT M18. Always have the CRKT KISS on my keychain along with a Swisstech mini tool. Also keep the Spyderco credit card knife in my wallet.

Hey judging on the amount of stuff that you guys has taken pictures of, you must like be naked when you take the pictue? :)

Dangit!! I should have known better than take the pics on the bathroom counter. I gotta pay more attention when I edit these things. :D

Or......

simply sew on a long narrow patch pocket that would accept a sheath so that one can put the knife and sheath into it.

An extra nice touch would be to sew on a tie or strap to fasten the normal belt loop on the sheath.

This would then be flexible enough to accept a few different sheath fix blade knives.

Lower thigh position or along the calf would seem good unobstrusive places?

Any other suggestions?
I have heard of people modifying their front pockets by running a stitch up the back of the pocket to create a smaller pocket for their clippless knives. Also, I don't know if it was their intention but 5.11 tactical pants have narrow pocket on the right leg that fits my knives just right. I think it was actually intended for a spare mag or tac lite.

I recently read something from Sal Glesser about the Ladybug being worn around climber's necks. With an SAK, I would use a sheath so I could seperate the knife from the necklace. I have one of Normark's sheaths for a Micra. The fit and workmanship on mine is perfect. http://www.mnsi.net/~nbtnoel/micro_rigs.htm

I wear my Native in a concealex sheath from www.rivercitysheaths.com it is a great sheath. With practice the knife can be pulled and opened in one motion.

I DEFINATELY need an update....one year later after last post...

Buck 889, Leatherman Wave, RIA GI, Garrity AAA LED, small pill canister, whistle, wallet, phone, and A.G. Russell Sting.

A lot of times self-defense is down to having the right deterrent -

Lights -

One of those Photon II or Inova Microlights should fit nicely on the keyring and is almost not there - there are choices of LED colors - the Photons have many more - white is generally useful - but can be "dazzling" in dark environment where your eyes may be dark adapted and you need to continue to see in the dim conditions - white being "bright" can also attract attention - which may or may not be desirable.

Red is the correct color to preserve true night (scoptopic, rods only vision) but since I live in an urban environment and hardly ever use true scotopic night vision - what I need is a light that does not glare/dazzle my eyes and yet I can still see well by - and that for me is Yellow (evidence the use of yellow/amber for fog lights to prevent dazzling when reflected back by white fog).

I got the red sapphire, and I think that the light is only sufficent to read something like a map. I now use a photon white led. And if you close one of your eyes when using the light, you still have 50% night vision with the other eye! ;)

And I also wanted to say Nice thread you started here! I really love to read about what everyone carry in their pockets!

right know, i have my sog trident folder, my bucklite, and the 110 that i customized. working on a sheath for the 110 now.

Elbio, that's a great combo. How's that stryker treating you? I've wanted one for a long time. If the linerlock is done right I like them. I have an old AFCK linerlock, abused and still no blade play.

Always carry my Buck Strider 880TX, Wallet, Cell Phone, Keys (Held on by a Carabiner which has a Folded Kershaw Blade.

Thanks, I've always said that a folder+flashlight+leatherman is the greatest EDC combo ever. I used to EDC a Fenix but I lost it :(
The stryker arrived today, so I'm not sure I'm ready to comment on it :P I'm convinced Benchmade's linerlock is great and it will certainly serve you well. It's my first knife with linerlock, I have to get used to it (cut myself once already:D ).

Well that's a good excuse to get the pretty amazing Fenix P1D-CE -

I found it to be brighter on High than the devastating SureFire 9P - yes, xenon 3x CR123 - and even on medium brightness (the default) it is about as bright as a Streamlight Scorpion or SureFire 6P - xenon 2xCR123, the low lasts well over 13hours with the brightness better than most 1/2watt LEDs (and MiniMag 2AA)......
all on a single CR123A and easily pocket size.......

Pocket check 12-15-06:

Spyderco Manix
Case amber bone (CV) Large Stockman

That's it! I've lightened my load as of late and it feels great. I used to wear a Hideaway around my neck and keep a couple little tools on my keychain- a SAK classic and a SwissKey, but no longer bother. I still keep a SAK camper and a Leatherman Wave in my briefcase though, so I guess I might be cheating.

Now if you want to talk about what I lug around in my briefcase- which is EDC to and from my office, we have a different story. My "briefcase" is a Pelican 1500 watertight camera equipment/weapon case. I love it! It's the coolest thing ever! It's full of pens and drawing gear. The coolest drawing gizmo I carry is my Parallel Glider portable drafting tool.(instant portable drafting table!) I also carry a set of various Pickett drafting/inking templates, and a nice Rotring compass with pen arm clamp. When I have my briefcase with me, I can work anywhere! (Extremely rare for an artist)

In addition to the SAK and Leatherman, I carry a little zippered, pocketed case which contains:
X-acto knife with spare blades
dental pick
paper awl
swivel-base pin-vise with jewelers drill bits
sewing kit
small Fiskars scissors
set of jewelers files (self-contained in another pin-vise handle)
nice tweezers
set of micro-screwdirvers

I also always carry (in the briefcase) a Surefire E2E. And a calculator, because I'm a nerd like that.

I'm not too sure about Benchmade's liner lock, actually. I EDC'd a Stryker for years and the lock loosened up to the point where it can easily disengage itself. I think the titanium fatigued with time and use, the "spring" of the lock is now extremely weak- nothing at all like it was when it was new. I don't trust it any more.
