Hey judging on the amount of stuff that you guys has taken pictures of, you must like be naked when you take the pictue?![]()
I have heard of people modifying their front pockets by running a stitch up the back of the pocket to create a smaller pocket for their clippless knives. Also, I don't know if it was their intention but 5.11 tactical pants have narrow pocket on the right leg that fits my knives just right. I think it was actually intended for a spare mag or tac lite.Or......
simply sew on a long narrow patch pocket that would accept a sheath so that one can put the knife and sheath into it.
An extra nice touch would be to sew on a tie or strap to fasten the normal belt loop on the sheath.
This would then be flexible enough to accept a few different sheath fix blade knives.
Lower thigh position or along the calf would seem good unobstrusive places?
Any other suggestions?
I recently read something from Sal Glesser about the Ladybug being worn around climber's necks. With an SAK, I would use a sheath so I could seperate the knife from the necklace. I have one of Normark's sheaths for a Micra. The fit and workmanship on mine is perfect. http://www.mnsi.net/~nbtnoel/micro_rigs.htm
A lot of times self-defense is down to having the right deterrent -
Lights -
One of those Photon II or Inova Microlights should fit nicely on the keyring and is almost not there - there are choices of LED colors - the Photons have many more - white is generally useful - but can be "dazzling" in dark environment where your eyes may be dark adapted and you need to continue to see in the dim conditions - white being "bright" can also attract attention - which may or may not be desirable.
Red is the correct color to preserve true night (scoptopic, rods only vision) but since I live in an urban environment and hardly ever use true scotopic night vision - what I need is a light that does not glare/dazzle my eyes and yet I can still see well by - and that for me is Yellow (evidence the use of yellow/amber for fog lights to prevent dazzling when reflected back by white fog).
Elbio, that's a great combo. How's that stryker treating you? I've wanted one for a long time. If the linerlock is done right I like them. I have an old AFCK linerlock, abused and still no blade play.
I've always said that a folder+flashlight+leatherman is the greatest EDC combo ever. I used to EDC a Fenix but I lost it![]()
The stryker arrived today, so I'm not sure I'm ready to comment on itI'm convinced Benchmade's linerlock is great and it will certainly serve you well. It's my first knife with linerlock, I have to get used to it (cut myself once already
).
