EDC? You lucky buggers! No such thing in this country

The draconian "weapons" laws in Australia prohibit the carrying of ANY knife in a public place unless you can prove you have a legitimate reason for carrying it - and no, self-defence is not a legitimate reason. So it's OK to have a fishing knife in your tackle box but you'd be hard-pressed to get away with any sort of tactical folder on your person when you walk down the high street.

We don't usually get hassled over SwissArmy K's and plier priority multi-tools but people can and have been busted for having a small folder in their daypack.

It all depends on where you are and how you present yourself, if you're in a shady suburb and you look like a shady guy wearing very dirty clothes, wearing a hoody over your head, and sun glasses at night, the cops will keep an eye on you. If you dress nicely and don't act like an idiot, the cops won't even take a second look at you, I've never had a cop even speak to me.

I'm not trying to be racist here but, in Sydney, there are alot of lebanese teenagers acting like 5year olds and idiots, they ride in cars, pop their heads outside the window and scream, they act like idiots in public, be rude to people, they stand out in the crowd, LEO's will keep an eye on them.

Hell i carry 3knives most of the time lol, byrd cara cara IWB for back up folder, boker magnum as a beater in RFP, and vic huntsman in RFP, the vic is what I'd usually pull out, it attracts no attention.

I have a possible solution for you concerning self-defense. It requires three steps;

1. Go up on your roof and slightly damage ONE asphalt shingle.

2. Carry a few of these in your pocket at all times.

3. Carry this (exposed), on your hip.

When you said roofer it made me think of reefer and when I think of roofers and reefer I remember my late drinking buddy, Hunter the reefer smoking roofer. He fell from a 3 story roof on some millionaires dream mansion and broke his back, among other things. Before they could operate on his back a bone splinter made it to his heart but I can still hear that hammer pounding out a rhythm like Keith Moon up on a rooftop. He had a Craftsman 3 blade stockman in his pocket along with a nickel bag of killer Columbian and a half a pack of Job 1.5s. God love ya brother and I miss ya.
