EDC - What's in Your Pocket(s)??

Kevin,

I don't know much about axes (or bits?), but I think that is about the most gorgeous cutting/chopping tool I've ever seen. I would like to buy my father something like that for his upcoming birthday. Its intended purpose would be for splitting normal pre-processed firewood. I guess it'd be a bit overkill for that, but it would perform fine, would it not? Also, what wood is the handle made from? It kinda looks custom made; if it isn't, mind telling me where I could purchase something like yours? Thanks.

PM sent... Thanks for the kind words!

Your are not kidding, that may well be the best looking ax/bit I have seen. Not too flashy, darkened head , beautiful wood.

I just got back from a week at the beach, and this was my vacation EDC:

Glasses with old REI case, phone, wallet, Buck 503 (micarta, 440C).

Simple and not too heavy. My Vic Soldier and Paramilitary came along for the ride, but didn't see any pocket time. The Buck didn't see a lot of pocket time either, but I love that little knife and it deserves some carry from time to time.

Please pardon the really bad picture... I was fighting with my camera all week for some reason... I think it's about time for a new one.

That Buck 503 really is a nice little knife. I got a 501 with rosewood inlay and it's absolutely beautiful. It's a real shame that it doesn't get as much pocket time as it should, but gotta develop that patina on my slimline trapper.

I've got an early 90s 501, with 425M I assume (1991), that I absolutely love. I rescued it in pretty bad shape off ebay and turned it into a nice knife. But, there's just something about that little 503 that gets me though... the micarta is beautiful and the 440C, though a bear to sharpen sometimes, takes a hold an amazing edge.

More of what I used over the weekend. Me and my hunting buddies did some path clearing and blind repairs on the hunting property and I had a blast. The CGFBM is a monster of a knife that can't be stopped. The CRK GB did all the fire fodder and cable cutting and everyone used it at the cooking bench. The double bit was excellent at taking down and notching 3" to 6" saplings for ground blinds. A Buck 110 and a LM Skeletool CX did the light chores. Great weekend with friends for sure!:D:thumbup:

No way you could EDC those things in your pocket(s) :D

If you don't mind me asking, what's the ring spanner on your keyring for? anything in particular?

Sorry I missed this comment.

More of a show piece I guess, kind of like some how some folks have fishing lures or beads on their keys. I was a mechanic right out of high school and these little wrenches hardly ever got used. I originally had it on my keyring so I could reach in my pocket and grab it and pull my keys out. Now I have the black pull strings for that though. Every once in a while I run into a 1/4 sized bolt that needs tightening on my car as well, so I use this guy. :)

Today its the Kershaw OD-1 i just picked up. By the way I just shredded a frozen pizza box and some newspaper to test the edge and after I was done it was still shaving sharp!

RFP: BM 551, Bic lighter, loose change
LFP: Cell phone (LG Dare)
RBP: Wallet and keys on belt loop/tucked in
LBP: Ipod

Right now? A Swiss Army Classic, some guitar picks and loose change. More often, a Gerber Fast Draw Mini, A Ruger LCP, guitar picks, loose change and whatever I might pickup during the day.

Hasn't changed much.

Left front: Wenger Ranger, Small ballpoint pen, office keys, Fenix L1D
Right front: Bic lighter, eye drops, knife of the day (today was GEC Barlow)
Left back: All-lett wallet
Right back: Comb
Right ankle: sawed off shotgun

Just kidding about that last one.

Spyderco Tenacious, Gerber LST 2, Buck 110, Leatherman Wave, and on my keys is my Frost Cutlery Raven Claw... ill hopefully take a picture later

I'd like to see pictures, too. Looks like a lot of handle was removed, was the blade changed at all? Or was there really just that much excess in the handle design?
