EDC - What's in Your Pocket(s)??

I carry either a Carson large M16 with stellite blade and carbon fiber scales, or a Carson stellite hawkbill with ti scales. I also carry a photon II light with green LED and leatherman mini-tool on my keychain. I only carry one of the Carson's at a time, as I think one big blade is more then enough. The multi-tool is for the sheeple and gadget factor. I also carry a firearm at nights and on weekends. I put my HK P7M8 in the photo below, but I generally carry an HK USP9compact with stainless slide or a Glock 29 10mm. All are carried in Comp-Tac kydex tuckable IWB holsters. Very nice holsters, by the way. Super quality. I usually have my Sony Clie PDA on me and often my cell phone. I usually don't carry the PDA at night or on weeknds as much, but it stays on my desk or in my vehicle. My surefire E2E is often carried at night, I just left it in my jacket pocket at my apartment when I left to visit the family for spring break. Anyways, here is a crappy pic, but a pic none the less.

anyone carry or considered carrying a fixed blade as an EDC?

I guess this would be a belt carry - horizontal?
or in waist-band?
Kydex sheaths?

Something like this
Bud Nealy thin/slim presentation grade Tanto with Kydex multi-carry sheath?

TOB9595 do you use all those things ?

Where can you carry all the things ?

Are you a rescue or law officer ( bacause of the spyderco rescue )?

Hola Rolando,
I do use all thes things. I have the CMG ultra with lithium aa battery and traser glowring on a pelican L1 lanyard around my neck. It is usually outside my shirt clipped to suspenders that I frequently wear. I use this for quick lighting of things. My eyes are going and I should wear glasses. I do wear glasses for reading. the glowring is to find it in the dark. A glowring is self illuminating. No outside source of light is needed to make it glow. It has a half life of 10 years. I carry a bandana always. It is a large handkerchief. I use the spyderco rescue in everyday situations. A simple quick knife. I use the Leatherman Wave for everyday tool needs. Yes I know it is redundant but I like the spydie in my pocket. I have the Arc LS for increased lighting needs. It is tiny, bright and lasts a long time on 1 battery. The bulb does not burn out, it is an LED ( light emitting diode ).
Dog biscuit for my dog :) Spare batteries, I have a surefire E2 in the car, Arc aaa orange for using a light in dark places that I do not wish to disturb others. Such as in a restaurant or theater. The pipe, I am a fan of briar pipes and smoke daily. Works of art!! The glasses, cell phone, and such speak for themselves.I am not LEO. Just a guy who does not like to interrupt what I'm doing because I don't have it with me or at least nearby.
I just sold and traded my yellow rescue spydercos. They are more than 20 years old, I think. Had them new and was going through my goodie box and will swap out more of my goodies now.
Do old spydies of this type have a collector value? I'm happy with my deal, just want to know.
Regards
Tom

I've read through most of the posts in this thread and I've got to ask...why do most of you have more than one knife, a flashlight, and then another type of light on your keychain. I mean, I can't think of one time where I was like, "damn...wish I had a flashlight or two". It's pretty rare when I even need a knife to cut a danglin' thread, but I will always carry one for defense purposes. But all this other stuff you fellas carry has me kinda confused. I guess I am missing the point. Not trying to flame anyone...I just don't get it.

As for as what I do carry...wallet in left rear pocket. BM943 or CRKT M16 in right front pocket or the leg pocket of my carpenter jeans. And maybe a cell phone. That's it.

Everdy day carry kit,if i can call it so,is:

1.A Cold Steel Voyager. Model: medium Clippoint with plain edge.

2.An Underwater Kinetics penlight. It´s a small pensize very bright shining flash light that´s so small and light that it´s always on me,and i know i will never be caught by the darkness.
This is what i allways carry!

3.Sometimes i combine it with the Leatherman S200

I work in security at gated community in Scottsdale Arizona. Working in the middle of the desert my daily activities can include cutting diamondbacks out of discarded tennis netting, cutting down canvas awnings, cutting through mesquite and ironwood brances, cutting rope, opening boxes/envelopes, cutting seatbelts/clothing and answering alarms at 2 in the morning in 15,000 sq foot houses (can't carry guns so a knife and pepper spray are all I've got). Bottom line is that a knife thats good for one thing isn't necessarily going to be the best for another job. That....and I like carrying them!

Burkstar, If you work nights at all you may be interested in the Tigerlight with pepperspray. It's all in one unit and brighter than all gettout. Pricey too but lots less than a stinger or ultra stinger. Just as bright. Check it out at tactical warehouse
I have no affiliation with them. It's where I got my 2 TigerlightL fbop.

Backup. I use a knife and a light at least a few times every day. Sometimes it's just casual and sometimes I really need them. Having a small fall-back version of my regular tools seems like common sense.

I understand the "I love knives and want to carry a bunch" approach, but it's generally not practical for me.

Usually I'm in khakis or levis and also have to carry a wallet (right rear) and PDA (left front). That only leaves two pockets. I carry a Surefire E2e SG and a bandana in my left rear as I sweat a lot and like a good light to be handy, I also see a benefit in being able to use the bandana as an inpromptu air filter in the event of a sudden disaster (I live in earthquake country).

In my right front I usually have either a BM 941D2CF or a Socom E and a Leatherman Micra in a pocket sheath. On the keyring is an Arc AAA. This arrangement allows me to have a bright light and a back up efficient light, and a main EDC knife that will be up to almost anything, supported by a useful small multi-tool with a small back-up blade.

It works for me.

my EDC stuff is as follows:

*EKI CQC8, carry it 24/7, my fav emerson

*kahr P9 9MM w/WW ranger 147gr SXT ammo,and 2 spare mags

*spyderco delica, so i can cut things and not scuff up my CQC8

*def tec OC spray

sometimes swap the CQC8 for a MT SOCOM elite or a crawford perfigo w/a polished blade,

also carry a surefire, either a C2 or a E2e, and occasionally a nealy 5" pesh kebz w/MASS system if i am wanting to carry a fixed blade

To each their own....... that's what makes this thread interesting - I love reading other people's choices and opinions - and even this one where you ask why......

Good question.

I try to "rationalize" my EDCs - I do only carry ONE knife.

Away from home it needs to be a SAK - as I actually do need the tools - as they are not always available to me away from base - these include flat and Phillips screwdrivers, corkscrew, bottle cap-lifter (to open other people's beers :D) and with creeping age - what once was a joke is not so funny now - a magnifying glass.......

I absolutely do NOT carry a knife for "self-defense" as I do not want anything on me that can be constituted as an offensive weapon.

So in the same spirit - let me "counter" with - why you feel you want to carry a knife for self-defense? -

here are my reasons for not doing so -

I do recognize a knife can be very effective and deadly - but things are likely to get very bloody and messy even if the user is an "expert", and there aren't that many of them out there........

IMHO it's better to carry one's own self(-confidence) for this purpose, or a GUN with permit and proper training.

As for lights I did carry just one single light - which was a Photon yellow LED - and this was fine for years for low light usage without attracting too much attention as well as preserving my eyes' dark adaption -
but there were occassions when I wanted a brighter White light that fitted the hand well and was easier to use over longer periods - hence the pocket sized (3.25" x 3/4") CMG Ultra-G single AA white LED light.

UnknownVT,
Good response to my response. And you are right about a knife as a defense option. But there are times when it is simply unfeasible to carry my 1911 or just too much hassle. And this way at least I am not empty handed. Maybe it's a mental thing.

I think I am going to get a small flashlight or one of those photon lights for my keys. Just to see how often I end up using it. Should be an interesting study.

some of you guys are a mess - you remind me of this Ripley's Believe-It-Or-Not I posted a few days back...

This is my current edc which changes when im not on base and get my permit.
Right front pocket - benchmade 710 comboedge, keys, squirt s4, yellow photon II.
Left FrontPocket - CRKT G.W. Hawk D.O.G plain edged, leatherman kf4 with white photon II, lighter(great for burning 550 cord and other misc chores), zebra pen, and chapstick
neck - dogtags(when on duty) and CRKT fixed falcon
Back Right Pocket - wallet
Back Left Pocket - hankerchief
Cargo Pockets - eclipse gum
Belt - cellphone and leatherman wave(depending on daily activities.)
After I get my permit and am off active duty I will be adding a keltec p-32 with spare mag, surefire flashlight, and springfield xd-9 subcompact. Im not entirely sure how I will redo my pockets as I will be losing my right front pocket to the keltec.
