Ryan...Really, this is a knife discussion forum. You shouldn't be posting pictures of your girlfriend here. I know you're proud, but c'mon guy...! :D

I bought this Chinese made clone of a Victorinox Recruit last Wednesday at a local (Mexico) hardware store and have been carrying it to try it out, sold under the "Truper" brand name, It is almost a perfect copy, fit and finish, snap, feel, edge holding, quality, even the toothpick and tweezers just like a real SAK, the Chinese are getting good, and only about $4 US in a place where we usually pay double the US price.

I also got a Buck 110 clone, not a exact copy but very solid and well made at about $12 US, not in my pocket though...

If what Don Luis says is true, and I believe him -
this is actually quite amazing -

I actually looked repeatedly and very carefully at his photo of the Chinese SAK clone -
hoping to be able to see the "quality" :D.

Luis - please do tell us more about the Chinese SAK clone/knock-off,
and how it compares in any other aspects with a real Victorinox SAK.

Usability seems as good as a Vic Recruit, if you look closely small difference in finish, basically a very polished finish over very small machining scratches, the tip of the small screwdriver on the can opener a bit over polished, the nail nick on the can opener a bit inside the handles, but I've seen all these things in SAKS too. if the handles were red and the tang stamp hidden it could have fooled me.

I tried to take the handles off to see if the inside was identical but they seem to be glued on, so that's another difference.

The size, shape, placing of rivets, etc. seems like exactly copied from the Recruit and a well done job.

OK, tried again and this time the scale came off, so it is not glued on, similar snap-on pins as in Vic, also took a pic of the inside.

Many thanks Luis - for your efforts.

From what I've seen - I am very impressed.

The Chinese SAK clone scales show only 2 rivet holding points -
whereas a regular 91mm Victorinox SAK has three points -
the third point at the pivot rivet at mid-backspring - where the Chinese clone shows a flat rivet/pin.

So that might be a bit short-sighted to make other SAK clones with corkscrews and stuff on the back of the backspring?

Anyway I am impressed not because it's a knock-off -
but the fact they've managed achieve close to Victorinox action quality
when someone like Wenger with over 100 years' experience and an official SAK supplier can't....

Thought I'd try my hand at posting a picture of my EDC. I carry all of what is pictured; plus my keys, Nokia cell phone, and wallet. I hope this works, and if it doesn't, my apologies :D

(Edited to change URL)

Well, I don't think I can post pics of my EDC stuff with a basic registered member classification, so I'll just list my "stuff."

1) common cell phone
2) Surefire E2E
3) CRK SR Sebenza
4) Gerber Nail clipper/file/scissors tool
5) A small packet of Bandaids in case I cut myself with my Sebenza

All the above in a black Maxpedition H/03 Waist-style Gear Bag.
In my pocket I carry a Winston Wharncliffe Keyring knife with a Photon II attatched to it. I know, it's supposed to be a keyring knife, but it's so darn flat it carries nicely in the pocket. This does for me right now.

Inspired by an old Pacific Cutlery Catalog:
EDCsm.jpg

(Only the AFCK is coated. I don't have the time or space to set up a nice camera box)

-Keys with Red Photon II (thought I have a Surefire G2 for nighttime)
-Samsung E105 Cell Phone
-Currently a Pentel Center of Gravity pen.. perfect balanced, great for aerials. I have a ton of Pentel G2s that I carry. One at a time.
-Fossil Money Clip
-Croft & Barrow leather wallet (Classy, I know)
-Oakley Half-Wire XL's
-Nixon Watch "The Professional"

My rotation is in the middle.
Spyderco Calypso Jr with 30 degree bevel, scary sharp.

and Benchmade (deep breath) 220, 720, 35, and 806.

My IBM T42 Laptop jumped into the pic at the last second. I don't EDC it. :]

If anyone wants to relieve me of the odd man out, the Benchmade 3100, email me.

right now I carry a 110 Buck, and a case mini blackthorn. My plan is to get and carry a Battle Rat from the swamp. I am sure it will work.
