Posted this on another tread.

Whoa.

I always wondered "wtf does this guy have a spiked tomahawk for, isn't that a pain in the rear to sharpen" but now I know, and am pretty impressed. If I ever find myself in a line of work that allows me to choose my own gear like that I'll make sure to remember this post.

That spike on the end of the head always made me wonder what it was for when i saw it in pictures on Mr. Winkler’s web site. After some training in its use by some sailor friends, I came to understand that a good spike on your hawk is a must if you are facing someone whit even light body armor. It worked back in the middle ages and it works now.
After this incident that hawk has won a special place in the memories of my team and myself, I will go on the wall one day, so my children can stare at it and wonder what their dad was up to back in the day.

Stay safe bro, glad to here your buddy wasn't injured in this as well...I need to EDC one of my hawks, RMJ eagle talon maybe :D
RMJ makes some fine stuff, two of the guys I work whit carry the kestrel, very cool tomahawk.

The kestrel is small, it can be carried under a jacket- The guys on the team carry them on executive protection jobs, they say it makes a great crowd control device. I will stick to my R & D hawk for now, I have a combat axe from Daniel Winkler on its way, I think that’s going to see a lot of use as well. I will post some pictures of it when I get it.

Be safe Robert.

I only have traditional RMJ hawks, I was inferring my next purchase (his tactical hawks have been screaming at me since he stopped the trads)...I will look into the Kestrel, the eagle talon is prolly a little big for EDC. If it works out for me I'll order one for my bro in-law whose in Iraq with the security contingent.

Definitely can't wait to see the new Winkler! :) take care!
