Case just cant get it right.

After receiving 2 different Slimline Trappers from online vendors, I returned the most recent one to Case. 5 Weeks later they sent me a replacement knife with the same problem. When the blade is open, the backspring does not sit flush.

My Rough Rider mini toothpick does not have that fit and finish problem.. I dont plan to buy any more case knives online.

When I spoke to Case service, they told me they could grind down the backspring so it sits flush when blade is open, but then the backspring would sit low when the blade was closed. I explained that such a "repair" would not be satisfactory, so they replaced the knife with another defective one.. oh well, Im keeping it anyway.

OTOH, the case has a very nice size blade for apples and food. The mini toothpick actually bends if you try to peel an apple with it..

first pic is the Case backspring, blade open, then the Rough Rider, and then both knives, on top of my garbage can..

Edwood, I was also going to recommend a Spyderco based on your experiences with the BM Bedlam... but I'd recommend the Chinook (any variation) over the Persian. My Chinook is one of my absolute favorite hard use folders. I have the saber/hollow-grind version, which I like better for the work that I use it for (general utility and sometimes abuse, with lateral stress aplenty). The full-flat-grind model is nice as well, and a heck of a keen slicer, if that's where your preference lies. Either one is pretty easy to find, with a little poking around the interwebz.

Today I have the 1st knife I ever purchased. It's a Kershaw leek in S30v w the reverse tanto. I need to send it back I've abused it for over 10 years and the blade has chips.

When you have the knife around halfway you should be able to get a diamond file in there to take a little material off the spring seat on the blade...this is why I do not own a Case knife.

Sharpen it?

I have the spyderco sharpener. I have most of the blade pretty good. But 2 chips were pretty big. I'll try and post a pic sometime. S30 is kind of a pain... My benchmade's in 154cm are easier for me.

Yesterday marks the the day I finally received my CCW.
This will be my new EDC for awhile.

BTW I'm 5' 11" 150 lbs. Not an easy task to carry.

I can't carry knives anymore... People at work told my manager now they are rewriting the company policy to exclude any pocket knives. Gee I used it to open envelopes and others used it to open boxes! But according to sheep they are weapons....The sheep came running to me the other day to use my multitool though! UGH I love hypocrisy...Especially since I help people.
