I did buy used, but not yours (I purchased from user: jjsmith).
It was near new in box when I got it and I couldn't take to the DLC. I did some research and found that Hydrogen Peroxide weakens the bond a bit.
I protected the pivot and soaked it for about an hour and a half then sanded with 800 grit (iirc) then finished with 2K under running a faucet to highlight the lines and smooth the scratch pattern to get my impromptu "black wash".

While disassembled I removed the assist, swapped in nylatron washers, left the assist liner in and she flips nicely now. I found out the hard way that nylatron and phosphor bronze washers bite on carbon fiber and won't pivot that well.

Nice, have you handled the GB1?
I had one for a short period of time, and while I liked the ergos and the small size of the ricasso, the closing just killed it for me.
I might end up with a GB2, I might get another GB1 and mod it to have a slight relief in the show scale.
Either way, I still like the look of yours.

I did something similar. I didn't know about the hydrogen peroxide. I just used a Brillo bad for a while. Taped up the the pivot area so I wouldn't scratch it. Then to accent the lines I used a medium grit ceramic, and finished with an ultra fine. Didn't know that about the washers. Thats good information for me to hang on to. Where do you get your washers from?

As far as the GB2 goes, I held a GB1 a long time ago, back at the spyderco factory. The thing so many people seem to love is what I didn't. The choil was just in a bad place and didn't protect your finger from sliding. The 2 fixes that problem. The 2 also has a small relief. I'm not sure if the 1 had this.

But it is a little bit of an opening to get some thumb in there. It's a little tough to deactivate, but not difficult. Definitely easier than any lock stick some titanium frame locks have.

I think I got my nylatron washers from USAknifemaker.
A decent little Shop that has a little bit of everything.

The GB1 does have a Very slight shaving of the liner on the presentation side, but it is Very slight and the edge of the liners are flush with one another.

Thanks! Beaut piece. How're you liking it?

It does not disappoint. Its a solid knife. Great fit and finish. Great action out of the bearings. The maker swears that it is real s35vn. After a month of using it, I tend to believe it.

Fantastic Ruple!
I need a good sowbelly in an alloy other than a stainless, 420hc or D2...
