DLC coatings are Tungsten Carbide (TDLC=Tungsten Diamond Like Carbon). The HRC (Hardness Rockwell C scale) of DLC is 72. Most knife blades are in the high 50 to low 60 HRC range. I doubt that a Gold ring could scratch DLC. Gold might scratch a Parkerized (Phosphate) coat.Yes - this is why I am moving away from DLC blades. Stonewash and blackwash are the king.
