EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Two days' carry here, sticking with Russian knives while waiting for their two new comrades to arrive. Yesterday it was the Cheburkov small Strizh while site directing 5 youth b-ball games for my club and today it's my pocket-sword Shiro 111 just becoz I can. ;)

UPS says the MILK will be here tomorrow. :D The Biryukov is somewhere coming from Spain by unknown shipping with no tracking. :( Likely won't be buying from that dealer again....

The Russians are the best IMO, love my large strizh!

With the two Russians inbound--one from Spain shipped a week ago Friday (by unknown courier with no tracking) and the other from Florida last Friday--my money was on the latter one getting here first. Well, I dreaded going to my local PO today to get a receipt for the pre-labeled package for my brother-in-law and nephew that I failed to ship last week as the holiday lines are usually awful, but there were only two ahead of me and I was surprised when the clerk came back with my knife after she kindly checked for me despite no package notice.

Anyway, I opened up the padded envelope as J and I sat in the car to find the knife in its leather belt holster well wrapped within and was somewhat surprised at what I beheld. The knife seemed quite a bit smaller than I'd expected from the specs and pics, an impression reinforced by how light it was. I also had no expectation that its CF scales would be either so polished nor have their black herringbone pattern set against a red field. Of course the the size of most any knife would pale against the Shiro 111 that was in my pocket at the time as would the weight, and measuring when I got home the knife is indeed a full 4.125" yet weighs in at a mere 4.25 oz. As is often the case, I'm initially underwhelmed when first handling a new and unfamiliar acquisition, but the longer I handle and get to know this one the more I'm coming to like and appreciate it.

There are a few oddities to the knife that I'll spend a bit more time figuring out (I think I'll be disassembling sooner rather than later) before sharing with y'all, but one thing I will mention is that the it's been hanging around somewhere for quite a few years. When I dragged the seller's pics into iPhoto after pulling the trigger, as is my custom with any purchase, they assumed the first position in the knife photos folder. Clicking the info tab yielded a date taken of Jan 1, 2008. Checking the specific pattern in the CF along the edges and around the hardware from the knife in hand against the dealer pics there's no question that it's the same piece.

It indeed went right into my pocket, and here's a few shots taken later this afternoon.
