On a lighter note: I found an old benchmade in my father in law's tool shed. I want to surprise him in and get this poorly treated knife back to decent quality, I always like to help out knife aficionados but especially when I'm married to their daughter.

I"m not a thumbstud guy so I know the basics of the benchmade lineup and have been close to purchasing the crooked river but the G10 spacer always drove me away, well that and the thumbstud... but I've never seen this model before.

So long story short; Is this benchmade a good model? is it even worth the work saving? It's S30 and has definitely seen a sharpening stone but the rust has taken over and the action is very stiff. I want to take it apart and hypersonic clean it, but the washers could be worse off after, it could actually have bearings for all I know but I don't think so because there is no grinding like a dirty bearing.. it's just tight.

lastly, what are the best rejuvenate options for this knife if it is worth saving? Hydrasonic cleaning, oil and new washers/scales? thanks everyone!

That is one of the most popular models ever made! Well worth cleaning up!!

After carrying the Sketch for few days, today I picked up another CRKT - Burnley collab - the Squid. Squid is a predecessor of Sketch, I am simply amazed by the small size, simplicity and robustness of this little EDC knife. It also has a great feel in hand, perfect lockup and strong detent.

Yup it’s a mini Rukus. I would send it to Benchmade. They might be able to replace the blade for a small fee. Plus they will replace all the old internals and pocket clip. Nice find
