Takes a difference kind of person to go out to sea on a vessel that sinks on purpose. I spent 22 years doing it and retired last year. Was fortunate to live in many places your son lived in addition to living out West and in Hawaii.

Back on topic, that Sebenza is a beauty. For me, this came today in the mail from an upstanding member here on the forum. Already wiped down with some mineral oil and is in my pocket (though not when I was taking this picture).

Thanks for all those years you spent watching over us out there. I like that Spyderco.

What did I learn to drive on?

Grandpa's 1966 International Scout. Which still runs to this day, over 300k on it.

Nice! Learning to drive sure ain't what it used to be. I learned on an old VW bug that was chopped up into a swamp buggy. I was only 7-8 years old  and barely big enough to depress the clutch. After a short tutorial, my dad gave me the instructions "Keep it between the ditches", and let me loose o_O. I was gone, and let him tell it I've been gone ever since. Without a doubt I can credit my driving skills to learning at such an early age and sliding around those old dirt roads, and I'm certain that it's helped me avoid more than a few accidents over the years.

I was 14, and that clutch pedal felt about 50lbs. Back roads and beaches of Galveston TX.
