EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Found my Stretch - whew! I love this knife and it’s been bugging me all week since I couldn’t put my hands on it. Poor neglected knife was stashed in a pack from a hog hunting excursion months ago.

Protech Malibu. First button lock I've ever had. Super smooth little flipper.

Been eyeing that one. How you liking it?

Recent exchange acquisition today, a modified Southard with custom carved scale in a dry riverbed pattern. Upgrading the bearings was a definite improvement as it didn't flip at all upon arrival. Easy affordable mod too!

One of my all time favorite folders. I’m a big fan of Brad Southard and I consider the original Spyderco Southard folder one of their very best offerings. I’m intrigued about your bearing upgrade though, was it a pretty big difference going from stock to new?

im diggin the Southard which is in my pocket right now actually. Love the design, overall
Size, lightweight, rock solid lockup on the all TI lockbar with no insert, XHP steel is a favorite of mine as well as the hollow grind.

i cant comment as to how the Southard flipped originally as the stock bearings were swollen and not turning anymore so it wasn't flipping when i acquired it but the replacement all metal bearings alleviated that issue. I can however attest to my Spyderco Domino which uses the same bearings as the Southard and did make a noticeable difference upgrading on that one. (Suffered the same issues, same bearings, stock and upgraded).
While i wouldn't recommend either solely based on flipping action alone, they work great now and are very well made folders which i would recommend overall keeping that in mind. The upgrade is easy, very affordable, and worth doing imo just to remedy the issues with the stock bearings and improve the action some as well. I imagine replacing the stock paper thin cupped washers behind the bearings will net even more improvement and is something I will do eventually also.

Another backup utility ventilator I’ve been enjoying. I’m drawn to stabby blade shapes. This is a Williams Blade Design piece made by TRC knives. They did a nice job with it.

Carries nice and light and compact with the taco sheath and 4.5” Elmax blade. Just installed a Mummert clip that is riding nicely IWB. You can one hand on/off and forget it about it all day if needed.

I was unsure about the handle design before having it in hand, but it works. Just enough for a comfortable full grip and plenty of texture to lock it in. Definitely outside of my normal wheelhouse though. The grind is not overly thin by any means, but has proven to be a good cutter while still very durable.

Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend! Boo yah

Here's my carry today. 20200620_141334.jpg
Haha. Just kidding. I brought it in to work to grind on and reshape the pommel area.

Hope everyone is having a more fun weekend than I am.

Happy Fathers Day
