EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Carrying one of my favorites today...

I had my first full day with my speed-holed McGinnis Valve. The action is more to the Olamic than the Shiro side with a slightly tight detent and a light shake to close, but that's not a bad thing, just different. I put a little W5 NanoOil in the pivot and a drop of Finish Line on the detent ball and it's moving more toward the free side now. On the other hand, the action is wicked smooth and the detent ball is placed well forward on the lockbar so the tang doesn't hang up on it when closing. Gerry has written that he spends time optimizing the action on every one of the knives that leave his workshop and there's nothing to be gained by tuning them at the user end. I'll reserve judgement on that, but in the meantime I'm enjoying handling this new beauty and am impressed with the cutting ability of its mirror sharpened CPM 154 blade.

The knife came with a very nice sculpted clip installed and the stock spring clip in a baggie. Despite my fondness for Shiros and Russian knives, I'm generally not a huge fan of milled clips for their functionality. This one, though, is both attractive and very good in and out of pocket.

Nice knife, did MBK make a production version of that one? I like it!

Reversed the pivot on my Spider Monkey. It does change the orientation of the logo, but I think I prefer it on the show side even rotated 90 degrees.View attachment 1378823

I've been seeing all these Spider monkeys, I want one but I'm not sure on the action. it's on washer so it should be good, what are your impressions? Finger flick open or more like a CRK?

I can thumb or finger flick it and it locks up solid with no play. It's definitely not drop shut smooth, but I'm more than happy with it. Click on the pic for a short vid since I'm too lazy to upload to YT.:D

Thanks, man. That would be MCK--McGinnis Custom Knives--and the Valve is from their ProLine which are their mid-tech production models. Right now their website only lists their Mini Exos in that line and seems a bit dated, referring to 2016 knife shows. @Quiet has one of their minis.

grybsh7 grybsh7 thanks for the kind words on todays pics. :)
