EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Ahh, that makes sense. I was just saying it looked like the custom version of the MBK Sprocket, which I assume is his production model he had Monterey bay knives run. I actually like it more now that I've seen the custom.

So I did a little looking around after checking out your link, and see now that MBK is a Laconico/Owens-founded company that has their knives produced in China. McGinnis was the designer for them on the knife you mentioned, nicely priced at $225.

At the other end of the spectrum is the McGinnis Custom Sprocket from his own company, everything done in-house and numbered, those knives currently selling at AZK for 4 figures.

In between is my MCK Valve which is just a little bigger--3.625" v 3.375"--with everything done in house but the blades which are ground elsewhere but finished with the rest of the knife by Gerry or his dad. Those ProLine mid-techs sold for mid-500's when they were available new.

Ah, so that's where that one ended up. I like my two Al Mar Talons a lot and that jigged bone on yours is great. Looks like someone has Chipped away at your bolsters, though.... ;)

So far it's been the Deka...

...but I just cleaned and lubed my Socom Elite and 0450, the latter being a step that's new to me for knives that run on bearings, so I think they'll be getting some love too. :)

I've read a lot of conflicting advice about running bearings dry vs. lubed, but over the past few months I've also bought a couple of knives on bearings that came visibly oiled from the factory. They were great, so I've been taking baby steps and lubing my bearing knives with 10w Nano-Oil, just like my washer knives. So far so good, and now my Socom is back to being the finger-guillotine it should be. ;)
